I’m quick to blame Conte when things are his fault but this loss isn’t on him imo.

Lautaro missed a point blank sitter on a rebound and Lukaku was denied an obvious penalty for the 2nd game in a row. We dominated from whistle to whistle. They barely had a sniff at goal and we created numerous chances over the 90 minutes. This is one of the more complete games I’ve seen us play. We were just missing the goal.

However with the that being said it seems like we’re just missing a goal a lot with this team. We have a serious mental block at times when it comes to scoring. We miss more great chances then a good team should. Mentality is the only reason I can think we struggle to take our clean cut chances again and again.

I am blaming him for his second half management. As usual he was too late with the subs and he has no plan b when things aren't working.

Commentator mentioned that Felix Zwayer was on VAR duty and I instantly knew that we wouldn't get a penalty here and I'm telling you the main ref would have given it but with Zwayer on the VAR it didn't suprise me at all.

First half was okay, Shaktar were playing well then they decided to lock it down after the injury. Conte in his infinite wisdom, after seeing the first half with 5 of their defenders, sent us out exactly the same way, Hakimi, Lautaro, Young, Lukaku were all man marked, so in his mind a ball over the top or the wings to beat the high line/offside. It never worked.

Our best chances besides Lukakus free kick all came from either Lukaku finally dropping deep or a give away. We could have 100% and never pull their defenders to split with a pass. We just keep trying the same approach over and over and over.
