Conte “just-enough” approach never works in Europe but it makes wonder in league format. Because it keeps players fit enough for a long run.

While Inzaghi possession football is the opposite. He qualified previously with Lazio. So did Gasperini with Atalanta. We need to destroy teams in a few matches there.

The difference is like a marathon and a 100m race. Hardly any surprise here.

There is no doubt the style we play now allows us to create more, we play a more open and fluid game then we ever did under Conte. I’ll be interested to see how it works if we get drawn against one of the favorites for CL. Pool, City, Bayern, Chelsea are the only teams that can win it this year imo. All are more athletic then us and can kill in transition. Inzaghi’s Lazio did not fair well against Bayern last year and got spanked.

So far this year the only big game we’ve played outside the league was against Madrid at home and we also dominated most of that game despite losing. However I think we probably match up better against their aging midfield then the other teams I mentioned. I think the last group stage match is actually very important. 1) Winning would allow us to avoid one of those favorites and every match we can go deeper is more $$$. 2) We need to prove we can beat a big team outside of Italy for our mentality before heading into the knockouts.
