You are right. But at the same time, Barella/Hakan/Mikhi any of those 3 is more creative than our second most creative player of 2010. Let's say, Stankovic. We might have a better team in terms of balance right now, but we lack 2 world class players like Maicon and Sneijder concretly.
Motta was great for us. He was really underrated. He swallowed Barca fantasy midfield in first game.

I remember during Mazzari, Conte, etc.. eras people were always shitting on coach's tactics (and rightfully so).

Now it's barely mentioned and for good reason. We finally have a system that works.

I don't think so cause Brehme

Nope, the original poster said "back line", or am I mistaking the meaning of backline ? Since english isn't my native language that is a posibility.

Nah, Thuram was average for a FB in term of technical ability. Lizarazu was better but not elite. I'd argue Dimarco is better than both of them technically.

Sneijder alone was more creative than the trio of our current midfielders. That long through ball Hakan made to Dimarco - Wesley used to do that every week.

I don't remember him like that tbh but yeah Wes>>Hakan/Mikhi any day, with all due respect to both. What annoyed me about Wes was his deteriorated shooting ability imo, which somehow happens to all set piece specialists when they come to Inter

I think Maicon would give the biggest boost to the current Inter. Milito would thrive with the amount of chances we are creating, but we are covered in that positions.

When Wesley was 35 he was in his very last year of playing career, 20 kilos overweight playing in Qatari league.
Mhkitarian at 35 is playing right now, right here, at the highest level, playing 90 minutes almost every match.

Just saying.

Spalletti one season semi-banter era

Conte two seasons with the highest budget of all time

Mourinho two seasons, with a significant squad change in between

Inzaghi in his 3rd season already

It's not a really fair comparison but as the link says, it speaks volumes on Conte's results.

Even if you don't count the 4 CL wins this season, that's still one more win for Inzaghi compared to Mourinho in first two seasons.

Still looks good for Inzaghi, now it just looks even better.

Why I am more confident in this team than Inter 2009-10?

Probably because level of competition was a lot higher back then. In 2009/10 you had to deal with Pep's Barca, one of the best teams ever played the game, a very strong Bayern, strong Chelsea and Man Utd.

Now you have City, who are great but nowhere near the level of that Barca, Real and who else? A PSG side that is unreliable and looks average if you take out Mbappe? A struggling Bayern? Arsenal? This Barcelona? Dortmund?

Well only Spaletti not in European final. I don’t compare them, especially Spaletti to Conte to Inzaghi, it shows upward continuity of the club after nearly decade mismanagement. Also for long time we don’t have a coach into his 3rd season.

One more win, but sadly one less trophy.
at least after reaching the final, the team didn't totally deflate - we are even better than last season

so there is good and bad in both situations. I'd rather have a fighting chance to go far in CL (and possibly win it) in multiple seasons than to win it once but otherwise destroy the team and watch the club almost fall into obscurity.

We can say 3 or 4 teams are packing a lot of talent. PSG or City or Madrid have sub players who would be super important for any Italian team for instance. It's very unbalanced. Real Madrid is like a state-club also because of Florentino.... corruption almost at same level as those Arabs.
While Bayern is a dictatorship in Germany and always gets the best of the league inside.

“When I arrived at Inter in 2019, I implemented a policy [of changing the culture at the club,]” Marotta said.

“I sacrificed someone like Spalletti,” the coach continued. “Who I consider to be a great coach.”

“But he was a prt of the present and the past.”
“The culture that existed was not a winning one,” Marotta looked back.

“And I sacrificed a coach as good as he was, so I could get Conte, a coach I knew well.”

Spalletti wasn’t the problem but he also wasn’t the answer. We had a shit mentality we needed a proven winner to shake things up.

and we also needed to throw money at a squad that was living off June plusvalenza deals
