They were the talented ones

Many of us remembers the old Primavera players and just feel empty when you think of what happened to them when Inter decided to buy in the Jugovic's and the Sousa's instead of giving the chance to the Primavera players.

For old-time's sake, here´s a list of players' name that you´ll surely recognise:

Marco Varaldi

Was hailed more than Cordaz and Moreau. He ended up nowhere.

Luca Franchini

Captain of the Primavera team and now all of a sudden on the bench in Serie C1 teams.

Nello Russo

Scored the infamous goal against Udinese, where he started to cry after the goal.

Davide Sinigaglia

At least he has made a name of himself in the Serie C systems. Lumezzane took him in and turned him into a good goal-scorer. He scored the most of all players in each pre-season we had. But never played a real game.

Nicola Napolitano

Cuper called him up for the CL lots of times. Now he sits on the bench for Spezia.

Giuseppe Imburgia

Best defender we might have had during the Primavera times. Was never given a chance.

Salvatore Ferraro

We knew he was gonna vanish when we made that co-ownership with Milan.

Fill me in on other players you think of when I say Primavera players that once were talented but vanished.

Jimmy you forgot my favourite Primavera player ever, Nicola Beati.

He was one of the biggest talents in Italy, but then he suffered an injury, wich most probably ruined his career. He played the second part of last season on loan to Triestina. Let's hope he returns :cry2: :cry2: :cry2:

Nello Russo

Scored the infamous goal against Udinese, where he started to cry after the goal.

Any reasons why Russo cried

Interesting to see that Reggina have signed him. Though he`s gonna have to compete with Bonazzoli, Borriello and Dionigi for a starting place.

Reggina has actually signed him? Good for him to be acknowledged as a great player, but now he will be benched again.

Basically out of the great Primavera team from 2001 consisting of players such as Altobelli, Napolitano, Beati the only player that has succesfully made the switch to the pro's is our very own Obafemi Martins. Right?

Don`t forget Pasquale. Beati would`ve made it by now but he`s been unlucky with injuries. Does anyone know where he is at the moment? Still at Triestina?

Pasquale's future with us is a question mark too, with the addition of Favalli unless Coco gets injured for an extended amount of time he'll be a backup at best.

I have to mention that when the last post in this thread was written, Sinigaglia and Russo used to play together in C1 for Lumezzane. Now the first is playing for Atalanta (1 goal in Serie A) and the second for Crotone (3 goals in Serie B but I may be wrong). This shows that Serie C is not a black hole and you can advance, even though you were said to be a wasted talent. However, it is very likely that both Atalanta and Crotone will be relegated

Now Beati is at Spezia from January. He played 5 matches... Also Cordaz and Napolitano are at Spezia, but they are injured.
Altobelli is at Spal, he played 27 matches and scored 3 goals, also Valeri is at Spal, he played 22 matches.
Rebecchi is at Cremonese, only 4 matches for him...
Franchini is at Ancona, 10 matches
Ferraro (13 matches) and Piovaccari (19 matches, 7 goals) are at Vittoria

No one knows. He has completely vanished from football. Ternana sent him back to us and from there, there hasn´t been any word of him.

Now at Chievo, he is good defensively, but has to learn more how to go forward if he wants to ever play for us.

Biava is back to inter, but he hasn't any chance of play in the first team. I've seen him a few week ago with the primavera squad
