Really pointless, why sign a youngster for a position that doesn't allow them any development opportunity?

Young players who would be at the level of an Inter 3rd choice GK are farmed out to the lower leagues for a reason. To give them match experience and hopefully rise about the level of a 3rd choice GK.

Players like Berni are made for this position. Those who are too old to develop to a higher level than they are already at, have some experience to bank on, whose alternative is to being 3rd choice at a big club is to be first choice in Serie C, where even there they might get deposed by a youngster on loan, thanks to the common agreements with the big clubs and provincials that they must play guys who are supplied to them on loan.

If you really wanted an alternative to Berni, then it's really just more of the same. Keepers in their mid 30s. They're the only ones that would willingly take such a position. And probably the prime candidate for a Berni replacement would be Luca Anania. I remember him being okay for Pro Patria a few years back. He came from our academy. Don't know where he plays just now. But the alternative to Berni is another player with similar history.

Anyway, regardless of all this, there is a chance Berni might drop to 4th choice anyway, if Vid Belec doesn't get sent away on loan once again.

Thats my point. If Belec doesnt get a good loan offer. Why tie down Berni in a contract, regardless of how cheap it is, when there is a possibility of having a primavera player who doesnt have any other options be 3rd. Plus as i said, we are not playing in Europe, so its not as if Bernis status as a former youth player is really of any use.
