Yeah, well he trains with Gunnar Nelson who has extremely good jits so I'm sure he'll be capable on the ground. I think you just underestimate how difficult it is to deal with wrestlers nowadays. There are jits guys who can. Charles Olivera, Jacare, Werdum etc, but submitting a wrestler who is just trying to stay heavy and get the occasional bit of ground and pound in is completely different from grappling with a jiu jitsu guy.

And Mendes has the best wrestling in the division. He even managed to take Aldo down who has some of the best takedown defense in the entire UFC

Jesus fucking Christ, Conor looked like a fucking Zombie at the weigh-ins today. Cutting 27 pounds in a week(12 kg)? I'm even less confident about his chances now. He'll have to win that fight early, as no way will he have the cardio to last 5 rounds

and one thing is for sure. We'll never see Conor fight at 145 ever again, no fucking way does he fight without rehydrating without a IV (which they are banning soon)

I'm ambivalent. Stylistically I prefer him to Mendes as I don't like wrestlers. Mostly because they're boring, and because I've been wrestlefucked by wrestlers in grappling competitions who are happy to win by smothering rather than going for submissions.

Conor is good for the UFC though. Him losing would be bad for the sport. Plus, Conor attracts casuals. He's entertaining outside the cage.

I guess what I don't like about him is that people are buying the hype without seeing him fight any top fighters. He could be as good as he says he is, but I want to see it first

And Kudos to McGregor. Mendes probably could have done a lot better if he used his head a little more. Conor will need to sort out his takedown defense if he wants to beat Aldo or Edger.
