So it seems like Mourinho is on his way out, and there are rumors that once he leaves the Real Madrid board will look to offload some of the Mourinho loyalists, a list which includes Pepe, Arbeloa, Carvalho and Coentrau.

Since Silvestre has failed to impress, we should let him go back to Palermo. We could make a bid for Arbeloa, he's not world class but he is a solid defender and would be a big improvement over Silvestre. He's valued at around 12 million euros right now, we'll probably have to pay 15 or so.

Coentrau also might be on his way out if Mourinho leaves. We could play him as left back and move Nagatomo to the right. We would probably have to shell out 25-30 million to get him.

Carvalho is 34, Madrid might let him go for free. If that happens we should definitely scoop him up. He would be an excellent backup.

So with around 40-45 million euros spent, we would have Coentrau, Arbeloa and Carvalho, and that would fix a lot of our holes on defense. Branca should definitely be looking into the situation over at Madrid right now. There are some bargain buys to be made.

They will let him go for free, but his wages are huge, which is why he didnt move to another club when Real told him to leave. We're not spending even 25% of what Carvalho would want, for a backup.

Maybe you're right about Arbeleo not costing 12 million, but that only means we can get him for cheaper. Splashing the cash on him and Coentrau would give us two versatile players. We would be filling up 4 positions with 2 players.

And Carvalho, according to this site http://matchincome.com/2012/12/07/ricardo-carvalho-salary-or-income/ only makes 624,000 euros a year. And he's 34, we could be able to get him for a lower wage. Plus we'll save money on the transfer fee.

Yes Carvalho is 34 but he wouldn't be paid a lot. And Arbeloa is 30, we bought Lucio when he was 30. Look at our defenders, we only have two over the age of 30 (I don't count Zanetti as he willl be out probably the whole season). And one of those players might be out of the club this summer (Chivu), the other will probably be out next summer (Samuel). Arbeloa would give some experience and versatility to our defense. And he makes a better CB than Silvestre.

You're comparing Lucio with Arbeloa? Lucio might be an asshole, but he was one of the best defenders in europe. He is a classy asshole.

Yes Lucio was a lot better than Arbeloa, but Arbeloa is definitely versatile. He can play centrally just as effectively as he can fullback. And without Zanetti, who do we have to put on the right? Jonathan? And Arbeloa makes a better central defender than Silvestre.

Having a lineup of Coentrao - Juan - Ranocchia - Nagatomo, and a secondary line of Pereira - Mbaye - Samuel - Jonathan would give us great depth in defense for years to come.

If we raid Real it should be for Sahin, some youth players or Higuain. I don't consider 15 million euro for a bench player a bargin. Hell raid Juve for Isla or Fiorentina for Cuadrado, Jovetic. We aren't going to spend big on 1 player. I can see us dropping 70-80 million in the summer for 5-7 players. I can't see us dropping that on 1-2 players.
