I don't think we should reject him based on the fact that Real Madrid don't need him, or based on the negative opinion of their fans. He wouldn't be the first Real Madrid reject to move on to thrive at another club. Real Madrid is strange in that way. Often times, especially following presedential elections, they overhaul their squad to make room for more of their precious "Galacticos", and quality players are sacrificed...
I think Sneijder would be a good purchase, he has a high work rate, power, tenacity and a good shot from the distance. He may not have the creativity of a classic trequartista but he is certainly a step up, creativitywise, from the midfielders in our squad. I see him as a (much) better version of Stankovic, who can be fielded both on the side of a three man midfield or behind the strikers.
Out of the realistically available options out there, I think he is a good choice, so I hope this rumour is true.
