I don't think we should reject him based on the fact that Real Madrid don't need him, or based on the negative opinion of their fans. He wouldn't be the first Real Madrid reject to move on to thrive at another club. Real Madrid is strange in that way. Often times, especially following presedential elections, they overhaul their squad to make room for more of their precious "Galacticos", and quality players are sacrificed...

I think Sneijder would be a good purchase, he has a high work rate, power, tenacity and a good shot from the distance. He may not have the creativity of a classic trequartista but he is certainly a step up, creativitywise, from the midfielders in our squad. I see him as a (much) better version of Stankovic, who can be fielded both on the side of a three man midfield or behind the strikers.

Out of the realistically available options out there, I think he is a good choice, so I hope this rumour is true.:)

I've got the feeling that Sneijder will be "reborn" at Inter and also I feel that we'll close the deal and sign him this coming week.

You can also add to the list of good qualities good passing and free kicks.

It's exciting to hear rumours about Sneijder but its scary that we still cant seem to get rid of our dead weight... How big will our squad be this season?...

A team for each of the three competitions it seems.:)

No seriously, you're right, 4-5 players HAVE to leave.

Make it 6-7:
GK: Belec - on loan
DF: Burdisso & Rivas
MF: Vieira & Mancini
AT: Suazo & Obinna

Please tell me we won't pay 3m€ for his loan AND 18m€ next summer to buy him. I mean I don't want us paying 21 fucking million for Wesley Sneijder. :howler:

It's speculated Mourinho has given his consent to this transfer and they target 15th of August.

edit. I prefer Sneijder 100x more than VDV, but for that price this is too risky business when we remember Sneijder will become one of our biggest paid player.

Also at Italy you don't have the space in positions where Sneijder would play which you have in Spain. Defensive play is way much more organized at Italy. If Wesley eventually arrives, hopefully he will turn out like Cambiasso because I'm not sure at all if he will be a hit which he should be with the money involved in this deal (fees, salaries).

I have doubts as to who would be the better player for us Sneijder or Van Der Vart. Guess it depends on what we are looking for..?

Is it a player primarily for the three man midfield in 4-3-3? Then Sneijder is definately better.

Or is it a trequartista? Because then Van Der Vart probably offers more flair and creativity..

Do you guys know in which position a potential new midfielder will primarily function?

If we are looking for somebody versatile enough to play in both positions/formations then Sneijder should be our choice.

Real Madrid just ask for a high price hoping Inter will accept it. We are no charity and if Real spent hundreds of millions on new players doesn't mean Inter will reimburse that.

Only Jose knows answer for that.

Well it's rumored the deal might be there already, only thing lagging is the will of the player. Hopefully this is just bullshit, and Inter will negotiate a much better deal.

It probably is. Inter either sign players quickly with hardly any rumors like Muntari and Lucio, or using good negotiation skills.

Sneijder was bought for 27 mln. We can't expect them to sell him to us for half of that.

He wasn't a flop at Real Madrid, he had a great first season, and the only reason he will (if) be sold is that there is no place for him in the team and Perez wants to get rid of dutchmen, not because he flopped.

Anything under 20 mln is a good price for Sneijder, and the loan is ain't the same as buying outright. It is obvious the loan deal will be more expensive. Gazzetta says 3 mln loan + 18 mln if we will want to buy him. I think that's not a bad deal. We can get few mil less if we'll wait until the end of the august, but I don't think this is popular idea over here.

Why wait till the end of August. Lets sign him within the next 10 days so he can at least play in TIM Trophy or whatever it's called with us, Milan and Juventus.

I would do too, I'm not saying I want to wait. But I'm just saying, that if we would, people would complain how we overprice our targets.

---Maicon--------Lucio----------Chivu------Santon---

----Quaresma-------Thiago Motta--------Sneijder-----
----------------Milito----------Eto'o-----------------

We need Sneijder to play the left-to-center attacking midfielder. I think Mou will play 4-1-3-2 in the UCL, as he did in Chelsea.

As I mentioned earlier I feel that we'll sign him this week or maximum before the TIM Trophy.
