I graduated in 2007 with BS double degree in Chemical Engineering and Material Science Engineering. Currently working in Japan on semiconductor processing.

Being a mixed blood myself, I am also very interested in Foreign Languages. I can speak Mandarin, English, Thai, Taiwanese, and pretty good Japanese. If I do one more language, I think it will be Italian just because of INTER!

Seriously, is there a difference between Taiwanese & Mandarin/Chinese? Is it just the dialect? Impressive nonetheless. :star:

mandarin is the national language...there are also many dialects like hokkien and cantonese..never heard of taiwanese before though...some are similar and others are worlds apart...something comparable to behasa melayu and indonesian...they are similar but different...

Taiwanese is basically a dialect of Mandarin/Chinese. Kinda like the Cantonese blackmore mentioned. It is basically spoken language only meaning people still use Mandarin when they write. Unlike other Chinese dialects, Taiwanese (and also Cantonese plus couple others) are different enough that people from other part of China cannot understand.

Some expressions and phrases are also different but the general flow is about the same.

It is widely spoken in Taiwan and some people from the South cannot even speak Mandarin (They do understand though, just cannot speak).

According to wiki, it is spoken by 70% of tw population

Haha... Holland is a small country, with a lot of export, so in our schools language is one of the main things we learn.

I get classes Dutch, English, French, German, Spanish, and Italian.

Languages are kinda my thing, you know :p

Last year I finished University of Computer Science [2005-2008] and right now I'm about to finish Law school University [2005-2009].
Unemployed. Waiting for offers (preferably in Law domain)

Same here. 2000-2004 Bachelor's Degree in International Law, 2006-2008 Master's Degree in Commercial Law. Unemployed for 7 months

Shouldn't have studied at all. These days it's much easier to get a job without any degree, but it all depends on country you live in.

Just do a good research. List jobs that are in demand and jobs you would be interested to do and see if you get something in both lists.

One advice from personal experience. Don't study law for two reasons:
1) The profession is too overcrowded;
2) If you decide to move abroad you will not be able to work as a lawyer

I study Software Engineering in TU Wien (Vienna Tech. Uni.)..

The reason might sound simple; i was always so interested about how those technological things works since the first time i used my Commodore 64.. I said it might sound simple, because there are thousands of boys out there now who wants to be a software engineer (or some similar thing) just because they love playing games. I can't honestly say that "i'm different", but no matter what, for like 15-20 years i always answered the "what you gonna be in future?" question as "a computer/software engineer!" and thus i'm very, very satisfied with the faculty i'm in at the moment..

I'm studying a subject in which a lot of "elite" people teach you things that you would probably never use in real life:D, unless you become one of them someday. That's political science:D.

Thumbs up! You rock, girl! I was thinking about going that direction too, but ultimately decided for law.

Hey!!! So there is another lawyer around :D But I wonder what went wrong mate. I'm a lawyer too here in Germany. As a lawyer you'll always find a job & can make a lot of money. As long as people don't stop fuckin' around, one thing we won't lack on earth would be lawsuits. Just gotta be good in what you do, get hooked up with the right firm, or worst case being a solo practitioner is also always an option. But I think it is really about what country you're in, as you mentioned.

I'm still in High School, but after I finish it (hopefully asap) I wanna study Computer Science or/and Architecture. Both of them or just one of them, not sure yet. I have two years to decide :p
