The opening post by Ehsan was incredibly precise! :star: I have been watching this forum for some time, but I became a member as soon as I read this and showed it to others!
I would like to add the following thoughts:
1) None team has won the Champions League two times in a row.
2) There weren't any English teams in the semifinals this year, while the previous years they dominated, for example with 3 teams in the semis. On the contrary, there were two English teams in the Europa League semis.
3) Having watched the same couple in the finals of 2005 and 2007 is weird, especially when the winner was different each time.Liverpool's come back after being behind by 3 goals was rather peculiar, accompanied by their victory in penalties. Two years later, and although Calciopoli had made an impact,Milan managed to win, with Liverpool being passive.
4) Bayern lost very astonishingly the final in 1999,but came back in 2001 to win the cup.
3 and 4 may show some effort made by UEFA to help English teams to come back from their disqualification for hooliganism issues.
5) Italian,English and Spanish teams have about the same trophies in their possession:
12 for Spain,11 for Italy and 11 for England.
If Inter manages to win this year, perhaps it will be Chelsea's turn in 2011.
German and Dutch teams share 6 European Champions' trophies.Inter and Yuventus have 2 European Cups/Champions League cups and 3 UEFAs,Bayern and Ajax have 4 European Cups,Benfica with Porto have 2,Eindhoven and Feyenoord have 1,it's like an equivalent.
In Italy we have equalised Milan in Campionato wins.In England Manchester United has the same champion trophies with Liverpool.Liverpool,Benfica and Real Madrid were for long out of shape,so Man. U.,Porto and Barcelona managed to perform higher.
6) Milan was a finalist in Champions League in 1993,won the trophy in 1994 and went back to the final in 1995.
Ajax won in 1995 and lost in 1996.
Yuventus won in 1996 and lost in 1997.
7) Red Star became European Champion in 1991,when in Former Yugoslavia there was a war.
8) Before Inter wins in 1964 and 1965,another Italian team had won the Champions Cup,Milan. And before Ajax's 3 consecutive trophies, another Dutch team had become the Champion of Europe,Feyenoord.
So,it seems that winning power is a national issue, watch 6 as well.
With all the above and like thoughts,it's like someone wants everyone happy in international football, that is above all a huge business. If we combine football issues with politics,as well, many correlations could be made.
