I don't think he's had any real difficult task so far. In all these matches we have dominated our opponents whether it wad defensively or offensively.

We didn't let Milan create much, and these saves weren't out of this world.

He has nothing to prove though. The guy has a lot experience and is a well-known name but so far he was on an effortless mode. But this is totally fine. It means that we are doing great defensively.

He was mm from saving that goal, looking at how dismissal Onana been in United I’m not really crying over it anymore.

Onana got infected from the ManUtd syndrome. He isn't as bad as he does these days.

Inter's defensive approach is making the job easier for these goalkeepers. This is why Onana is now struggling at Manchester while Sommer is practically on vacation.

Something look more and more like it was our defence that made Onana look better on the line then he perhaps was.

His main advantage was always his passing ability, he was never the best on the line. Handanovic and Cesar in their prime was clearly better shot stoppers and in the air then Onana.

I done really think Sommer is any worse as shot stopper then Onana, he just ain’t nearly as good a passer, but he ain’t bad either, In our first games I really have not missed Onana one bit.

I really start thinking we made the loss of him into more then it really was…

I agree he is better then what we see in United, but something also tells me he perhaps wasn’t as good as the price would otherwise indicate either I think we might have overestimated him perhaps a tad too much.

I frankly believe Onana still is perfect for our game plan. He is not ideal for unorganised MU. But I guess, generally, being a goal keeper you got to be good with your hand. Passing comes second.

He is. But we couldn't pass the chance to sell him at a huge price which has unlocked some very important transfers that we needed more than a goalkeeper who can pass. Although I still think that we could've pulled more money out of those fools.

My only issue with him is that he's being stubborn with these long passes despite that it's obvious that it doesn't work. He is no Onana when it comes ot ball playing ability, which is fine to me as long as he is great at goalkeeping, which he is.

One of few positive things tonight. Not so much else to say.

Sommer is definitely an upgrade (for 1-2 seasons) over Onana in terms of pure goalkeeping. What we lack now is the composure at the back and Bastoni's howler last night proves that. He didn't trust to give the ball back to his GK and Onana wouldn't have given him the ball there until the whole team regrouped tactically. That's where the difference lies.

I thought his pass to Bastoni in the lead up to the goal was a bit of a botch as well.

There's no excuse for what Bastoni did, he had all the time in the world to make a decision not leading to a certain goal.

While we can lambast our players (Bastoni, Sommer, Asllani and maybe others) for not positioning well and not clearing the ball, let us also not forget that they were playing against a well oiled machine. Most of the Real Sociedad players have played together since they were youngsters and their coach, Barrenetxea, was also their coach back then.

This was a result of multiple years playing together, knowing when to run forward to snatch the ball. Apparently not the first time they scored a goal from that kind of pressure.
