Kovacic is perfect for Mazzari's system in the attacking sense. Mazzari wants team to lie really deep, and then counter attack. Who better to bring the ball from deep dribbling and give a final assist in a counterattack?

The only thing he's missing is physicality, which I hope will come with time. Last game he had more tackles than any other player on the field, which is an encouraging sign.

This is the only highlight you need :p

Also another what a run...mamma mia....He really REALLY needs to improve his finishing. If he scored this his market value would have doubled, and our t-shirt revenue would have increased by 100%.

I like the fact that in the second video you posted, the commentator is yelling ''maestro Kovacic.'' :D

This guy must be starter over Taïder, Guarín, Nainggolan or whatever tbh. He just deserves it, give him the chance ffs.

I like Taider. Has the potential to be a good B2B. Getting a bit tired of Guarin however. He's been average at best for a long time now and he continues to start games without fail. But yes, Mazzarri and Inter in general need to stop fucking around with Kova's development. Kid has class oozing out of his pores. He needs to be starting as many games as he can handle.

Midfield....

this so much this

Kova doesn't play in a fixed position because he drifts in places he feels he has the most space and can creat the play ...sometimes he is in the DLP position, sometimes he is the AM or on the left or right side.He gets his wings cut off if he is glued to one position tbh.

I would like if we played a 3-5-1-1 with Kova and no Guarin

Johnny--------Cuchu------Nagatomo
----Taider--------------Kova
-------------Alvarez
------------Palacio

He needs to deserve the starting spot. Honestly Kova hasn't impressed this season so far tbh

Though he has plenty of room to improve and he's such a hot prospect but he has been nothing but average so far, worse than expected

One or two fantastic passes or dribbles is not enough. He has to be more decisive, his game has to be more influenced ect ect

I blame Mazzarri's system. It's hard for our CM/AMs to influence the game directly considering the lack of players in the central channel. Kovacic's job most of the time is to pass it to Nagatomo or Jonathan because Palacio is typically marked by 2 or 3 players. Alvarez is typically lurking out wide as well.

That first highlight though, the one where he goes on a great run, dribbles past a few players then shoots the ball at 4mph at the gk, I can't tell whether he's scuffed his shot or whether it was just a shit finish. Real shame he didn't score that one.

I swear the ball wouldn't even pass the line had the goalkeeper let the shot through. :trollol:

He needs to do more of these runs at Inter, although Italian clubs tend to defend deep and tight, meaning his bursting run through the middle is much harder to achieve and lose its effectiveness.

Mazzarri's system wasn't problem for Hamsik, who has grown up into world class player under Walt.

Kovacic has more talent than Hamsik, but he is too shy, I have a feeling that he's still intimidated by the fact that he plays in such a club like Inter. It's all about his confidence, when he starts to take more responsibility for our gameplay, he will be pure class, I'm sure.

More talented than Hamsik while the ball is at his feet perhaps, but Hamsik is on a completely different level than Kovacic without the ball. Hamsik movement means he's often in fantastic positions when he receives the ball and which allowed him score and assist so often under Mazzarri.

Kovacic's movement off the ball is almost non existent. The things he needs to thrive are completely different from Hamsik. The ball needs to be at his feet and there need to be players in motion in front of him, so the opposition players are in two minds.

So far the only times he's had that with us have been in counterattacking situations and funnily enough that's when we've seen the best of Kovacic.

Skills you have with the ball at your feet are called talent. Everyhing else (like off the ball movement) you can be taught. Especially when you're 19-year old.
