Cafe has never scored more than 2 goals in a season and both are among the very best in their position. (both attacking and defensively.)

Sure, but still. I think to call Javier a real goalscoring threat at his prime is a bit too far. He has a very good knack of scoring VERY important goals, but to extend that to calling him a real goalscoring threat in a time when we had people like Ronaldo, Recoba, Vieri... Nah

The point is that finishing doesn't come to everyone. And despite the fact that JZ always worked very hard throughout his career, he was never a good finisher, nor did he learn to cross well. So to just assume that Kovacic's finishing will rise to a Hamsik type level is just wrong. I'm not saying it wont happen either.

Zanetti's finishing was poor, but his long range shots weren't bad tbh

The difference was that he rarely made a direct attempt on goal, instead opting to move to the wings and make a cross, or link up with a central midfielder

Interestingly enough, I remembered this run against Porto when watching Kovacic's miss (following an exceptional dribble)

Captain was a full back who I'm sure did very little to improve his finishing as it's not really important for a full back. On the other side Kovacic is an attacking player who will put few more hours in training to improve his finishing so chances are high that his finishing will improve.

Check out some of the best goal scorers and check who many they scored when they were younger and how many they scored as they grew older. Their overall game improved and also finishing.

Zanetti never improved his crossing either and that is important for a fullback. I'm not saying that Kovacic's finishing wont improve, but we can't act like it's a given that in a few years time he'll be hitting ten goals a season or something

Yeah, I'm not saying he will scoring goals for fun just that finishing can be improved with more training sessions and there are many examples to prove that.

Scoring goals from midfield also depends on tactics, how much he can attack and on his defensive duties. So I'm not saying he will start scoring for fun just that it can be improved.
