You always clear wide. Even if a player from the opposite team receives the ball at least he can't shoot first time, or his chances of scoring are greatly decreased.

It's not superficial it's just fact. It's funny you would bring up the Handa not trying issue, because I'm often the one in his thread defending him to the death.

Watch the replay again. Callejon was making the run in behind and was ahead of him by the time he headed the ball. If he would have headed wide like he was supposed to worst case it falls to Maggio.

Then he's at fault for two things. He should be more aware of what's going around him. Though the golden fucking rule of defending is not to head it wildly into the centre...He fucked up with the header and the defence were also at fault.

Still a big fan of Yuto though, it just seems like if certain players make 1/2 mistakes then they get crucified and if a player is invisible the entire game they get a clap on the back for 'no mistakes'.

Our entire team's marking was an absolute atrocity.

But Nagatomo definitely made a mistake that directly gave Higuain a chance.

I actually thought he was largely mediocre this game, those weak shots and countless dispossessions because he couldn't dribble. And all of his crosses were blocked.

But he worked hard up and down, and didn't lose against De Sciglio, so it was an ok performance.

I agree with Wallace. However, on a side note, when Cuchu gave him the armband during the sub, he turned on the turbo considerably.

I did like the idea of him as captain. I know a lot of people want(ed) Rano to be our future captain, but Nagatomo in my mind would be far better candidate.

I actually thought he was turbo-cized quite awhile before that. When did he put it over the net while Palacio was waiting for the pass in the box ... wasn't that long before Cambiasso went out?

Tbh while he was quite important against Milan, his inability to convincingly take players on was glaring, how his individual surges forward can only be effective against weaker sides
