Why do one-dimensional managers exist? Can't build a team around a system, it's about building a system around the team personnel with what you're given.

I feel a little bit sorry for Frank. A little bit because we all know how stubborn he can be and i hoped he had learned from his experience at Inter. He wanted to play an certain type of football which you can't play with an club like Palace.

The only one you should feel sorry for is Palace fans. Even absolute scum like them deserve better.

He wanted to play an certain type of football which you can't play with an club like Palace. The players aren't good enough, the problem with Frank is that he doesn't look at his squad and make an tactic which is suitable for the squad, no the squad has to adopt his tactics. That will never work in real life. Only at Ajax but that is because everyone plays that type of football. But yesterday they were the better team but couldn't score a goal. If Palace won 1-2 or 1-3 yesterday it would be an fair result. But then again maybe that is just quality missing in the squad. But still i can't imagine why you hire Frank de boer and fire him after only 2/3 months, when you get a coach like him you know you need to give him time, but is guess this is the madness in todays football.

The only reason to feel sorry for him is that no one should be as shit at their passion as he is.

I saw their last two performances. On the basis of the third match a sacking would not have been harsh at all. Palace were dreadful. But yesterday they did looked like they were gelling, and they were much improved. I would've given him at least another match to see if it was a false dawn or real improvement.

Ultimately though it's on him if he can't adapt to his squad. And considering how much staying in the Premier League is worth, it's hard to blame Crystal Palace for doing what they did.

with that said I don't think its fair to sack any new managers just 3 or 4 matches into the season. But I generally really hate the short leash that is put on managers. It takes time to implement a new system and new style and firing a manager that early just means another one will have to come in and take some time to set up another system/style - which has to be infuriating for fans and the players.

seriously speaking, another failure and he can say farewell to his career. even if it's not entirely his fault.

you guys got it all wrong: de boer is, like, the smartest guy around. wouldn't you want to have a job which only lasts some months for which you get paid a big amount of money for at least one whole year? :D

And he gets to watch live football in that period. briliant. :eek:blivious:

this is exactly the first thing that came into my mind
dude has earned 2-3 millions of euro gross by working almost five and a half months.

I feel sorry for him and that's not just because he's Dutch. He just made the big mistake to choose two wrong clubs. That won't say he's a bad coach.

He is a shit coach and that is evidenced by the fact that he can not survive and hold down a job anywhere other than at Ajax, where he is a club Legend. He should go back to coaching young kids because it appears that he otherwise has no idea. He should also get it through his head that he is not going to be able to impose his tactics and style of play at shit teams like Crystal Palace.

Let's see what his evil twin says over the coming days.

:awyeah:

He wasn't that bad when he was at Ajax. But then again the squad he had was very young and used to playing his tactics. He made the same mistake at Palace, so he didn't learn from his time at Inter. If you should believe the media now all the older players had no connection with Frank. I just saw an article which says that the players were mad because he showed them his football skills and he could do anything with the ball that they couldn't. Stupid mistakes because he is stubborn. I think his manager carreer is over at international level. Maybe he can become coach of the Dutch national team, they are as bad as he is right now.

I always knew De Boer was a bit overrated. His Ajax team was rubbish in Europe even when he had a team of Eriksen, Vertoghen, Alderwiereld, and Suarez. He can only do well winning Dutch leagues when rivals are shit like PSV and Feyernoord were at that time.

I don't like belittling a coach's or player's past accomplishments like that. You can only beat the teams there are in the league, and winning is winning. FdB did well at Ajax.

The problem with his Inter stint was that he tried to change too much too soon. And that was the same problem at Crystal Palace. He needs to understand that no club has the patience for a "revolution" anymore. You make small incremental changes and slowing adapt the team to your style.

To be fair in his last game he switched formation and played much more direct.

The more I read about his sacking, the more I get the sense that his man-management was as big, if not bigger, problem than his tactics. He immediately created rifts with key figures in the dressing room. Players found him hard to get along with. We saw evidence of that here too. And apparently some of the Palace players were miffed at his showboating in training.

I just want to know is he basing his "tough" relationship with his players on past experiences he had as a player, or is he trying something new himself. Even if he did go through some of that the calibre of players in those dressing rooms are in a whole other level to those compared to the ones he managed.

He had Louis van Gaal as manager for many years and we all know how van Gaal treats his players.

I think he should have went to Germany before trying his luck in England. Young coaches have done really well there. I also think the mentality of the players there would have fit better with his management style.

This is the same country who is bitching about Ancelotti's training style now, saying he's too relaxed and hands off.

which is tue, it is his style and he's not going to change it. he still talks in English after a whole year by the way.

i understand him, 6 months weren't enough for me to get the hang of german. almost the same, except i wasn't earning some 10 million euros per year.
