I hear Palace are going to hire Roy Hodgson. It's cruel to still kick the dead horse.

I still for the life of me cannot belive there were people that still wanted him to stay on last season over here. Look people can use the excuse of oh here was completely new to the league, he didn't know what to expect....I'm sorry we all watch football here, some watch strictly Inter games of course but a lot of us watch football across multiple leagues and I'm pretty sure someone like him after leaving Ajax watched football from ever put league so I'm not buying this whole complete stranger to a league bullshit and he didn't know what to expect bullshit.

Because more to the point, what bugged me the most is even after the first games, he still went away to Atalanta and Sampdoria with the sheer arrogant mentality that he's going to play them off the pitch....ehmm wake up call....it doesn't work like that, not even fucking Barca can do that week in week out let alone with a squad like ours.

I didn't understand why Palace took him in the first place. They knew the players they already got were so attached to the kick & rush playing style by Alan Pardew and later on Sam Allardyce.

But Palace are a joke of a club (their "Italian-Ultra" like fans are a laughing stock LOL) and very, very poorly run IMO. You cannot bring a new manager in and sack him after 4 games. That Steve Parish guy is a fool. Okay, they played very poorly and De Boer made many mistakes and should've switched to an Allardyce like 4-4-2 after their second loss, but sacking him after 4 games is pathetic. Allardyce didn't win for 5 games last year in december.

And most dumb decision of all would be if they took Roy Hodgson as his replacement. Only good thing Roy ever did was that 4-1 win over Rubentus with Fulham.

Official: Palace sack De Boer
By Football Italia staff

Crystal Palace have sacked former Inter Coach Frank de Boer and could replace him with ex-Nerazzurri boss Roy Hodgson.

Palace have lost patience with De Boer after just four games, which spawned four defeats and no points.

“Crystal Palace Football Club have this morning parted company with Frank de Boer,” read a statement on the English club’s official website.

“We would like to thank Frank for his dedication and hard work during his time at the Club.

“A new manager will be appointed in due course and we wish Frank the very best of luck for the future.

“There will be no further comment at this time.”

The Dutchman’s 77-day tenure is the shortest by any Premier League manager and eight less than his reign at Inter last year.

However, he is not be the shortest-lived Palace boss as Dave Bassett lasted just four days in 1984, without overseeing a single match.

Replacing De Boer is expected to be Hodgson, who coached Inter in two separate spells, as well as Udinese in 2001.

The 70-year-old has been out of work since resigning from England last year after their shock defeat to Iceland at Euro 2016.

Yeah it's pathetic decision to fire him after just 4 games, the guy who hired him should be made to take responsibility too. This appointment didn't make sense but when they hired him they should have at least waited for sometime before he could implement his style.

Btw, Hodgson is a safe manager, they know what they get from him, a good midtable finish. Looks like Palace just wants that.

you guys got it all wrong: de boer is, like, the smartest guy around. wouldn't you want to have a job which only lasts some months for which you get paid a big amount of money for at least one whole year? :D

And he gets to watch live football in that period. briliant. :eek:blivious:

Since he was hired by Palace it means we are not paying him anymore, correct? He is off your books?

I just realized that we are paying no other coach than Spalletti. It's been a while since we were only paying one coach.

How many games in did he get fired here?

84 days with Inter, 77 days with Palace. Not even 3 months. #Lockerroomsplit #BlameTransferMarket #BlamePreSeason #Playersfault

I feel a little bit sorry for Frank. A little bit because we all know how stubborn he can be and i hoped he had learned from his experience at Inter. He wanted to play an certain type of football which you can't play with an club like Palace. The players aren't good enough, the problem with Frank is that he doesn't look at his squad and make an tactic which is suitable for the squad, no the squad has to adopt his tactics. That will never work in real life. Only at Ajax but that is because everyone plays that type of football. But yesterday they were the better team but couldn't score a goal. If Palace won 1-2 or 1-3 yesterday it would be an fair result. But then again maybe that is just quality missing in the squad. But still i can't imagine why you hire Frank de boer and fire him after only 2/3 months, when you get a coach like him you know you need to give him time, but is guess this is the madness in todays football.

Either he is a poor coach, or his ideas need too much time to bear fruit.
In any case, he should try to become a bit more compromising in the future because there's very little room for patience in today's football.

He has a system and that system needs time, training, culture and the right personnel. He had it at ajax, he needs to find a team that suits his style since he is incapable of asserting his style to another team.

The same thing would happen to pep if he ever went to a club that didn't have world class players and a ton of money to get him the players he wants. You need managers that have a system but should have atleast a little flexibility in tactics to adapt to their situation. These one-dimensional managers will struggle.
