This whole Modric saga is driving me nuts. This kind of reminds me of the Lampard saga when Mourinho arrived. We ended up signing Muntari instead.

Thank fuck for that.

And thank fuck we went for Sneijder instead of Deco.
Thank fuck we got Pandev. Thank fuck for everything that happened until May 2010.

You'll be thanking Ausilio for signing Barella instead of Modric/Vidal when we win the treble this year.

its's normal, he never played in europe.. he needs time before he gets a starter player
Its not normal if he is good enough for starting spot.I dont give a shit if he playes in Europe before or not.He is good enough or not good enough. There is only two options.
So we pay the real price of SMS for the loan, and another 70 mill later?

I suggest people watch clips of him at the WC. Hes not the great player hes made out to be. Another overhyped/priced player from Rome like Alisson.
Really? This was his first competetive game for Serbia. You cant judge him on that 3 performances.

Alisson overpriced?Well,not in 2018.
World Cup is not necessarily a representation of a players skill otherwise Klose would have been the best striker in the world but in truth no one really fought to get him.
Klose was very reliable striker wherever he plays through entire career.

Also wonderful person on the pitch:

You're choosing to evaluate a player based on 3 games with his crappy NT rather than 35 games he played at an elite level at the club level. Recency bias.

Meh...SMS is definitely not worth anywhere near 100mil. He hasn't even proven shit at a high pressure club. He's been guaranteed starter, in a system tailor made for him.

That price is reserved for Barca/Real to gamble on a player. We should never do that.

A system tailor made for him? Have you seen Lazio's midfield? Is "be everywhere, all the time" a tailor made system for anyone really?

Free roles are better/easier to "shine" than more disciplined roles. Top teams have disciplined roles/responsibilities. He gets to do what he wants and be wherever he wants without any real accountability at Lazio.

He's a good player but the price tag is absurd for hype reason. Like I said, a gamble for a Real/Barca to take at the price tags being proposed by Lotito. Not for us.

I don't think you've really watched Lazio in the past two seasons.

SMS literally has to do everything because there is no fucking plan. It's either run to the flanks or push it forward and hope for the best. SMS is literally single handedly controlling the game for Lazio, ensuring they have more attacking than defensive duties.

He's a much bigger player than Pogba was at Juventus. The only differences were the Scudetti and the astronomical difference in wuality between the two midfields. He's no gamble, he's by far the best transfer anyone could hope to land from Serie A.

Dude exactly! That’s why I hope Modric stays and we move for SMS because it would be an incredible pull

Sergej is one of the best serie A midfielder.
but Modric already best midfielder in the world .

:awyeah::awyeah:

We already had Nainggolan, no need push Savic..
We need Modric more than other midfielder, because Modric creativity is valueless.

Well, obviously if we have a dilemma between the two, Modric is the way to go.
And hope that SMS stays at Lazio or moves to Real only to get him back to Italy a la Samuel :D Otherwise, it might end up being one of the things we regret 5 years from now

150 is ridiculous for him, even 70 would make think about it.
Modric would bring us more in terms of how we will be perceived. A lot of eyes are gonna be on us, and if we do well in CL a lot players will me more inclined to joining us.

Finally someone with a sense. I was afraid to write what N4L wrote

SMS is excellent player, one of the best midfielders in Serie A in the past 2 seasons. BUT, for 100 mils player you should be getting already proven winner, SMS ain't one. He never showed he can play in bigger team that requires stability and discipline. ATM he is 50-60 mils player TOPS, not more. And he is a gamble we cannot afford, if he fails, we are totally fucked.

Modric is the way to go. Already proven, huge name, leadership and creativity we need. Just go for it.

Considering 100m was enough to get Ronaldo, you would indeed want to see something phenomenal arrive for that kind of fee. 150m for SMS would just be suicide for any club other than Madrid at this stage.

When I watch SMS the only player that comes in mind is Hamsik who shined at the same age in the same level team.

It's more than that my friend.
Ronaldo is 33y. You don't know how many best years he has. I saw many players who were world class and after one year they were a shell of himself. You cannot predict this.
SMS is 23y. You'll buy him for 10y, assuming you are not a selling team.
At one point you need to have complete team and not change more than 1 or 2 players. Look at Real or Barca, the most successfull teams in the last 10y. They have world class players but also very stable. The players turnaround was minimal.
