I wonder what our short-term plans for the midfield are.
If Vecino leaves, we'd have Eriksen, Sensi, Brozovic, Barella, Gagliardini and Valero. Those first four names are class. Valero in particular has been a very competent backup this season, but IMO he and Gagliardini could be improved upon with players who offer other assets.
Basically, the midfield as a unit is a bit lightweight for me. I think the department definitely lacks a bit of physical presence or speed or athleticism, which is something Vecino was good for providing.
The Allan/Vecino rumors were great, and Allan would've helped tremendously in this regard. By the sounds of it though, Napoli have come to their senses, because that swap always sounded suspiciously too good to be true.
I'm curious to see whether we'll be finished with the Eriksen <> Vecino "swap" or whether we'll get a 7th midfielder. Budget and time permitting, we should definitely go for it I think.
No fucken Kessie though.
