Exactly. Nonetheless, we have to thank Napoli for that, but still. I'll keep saying it, what I saw on the first half against Barcelona in Camp Nou was mindblowing. I'll give Conte my support for that, I haven't seen anything close to that in a long while against such an opponent. Spallo cannot even dream to play like that.

Still a lost. Spalletti did better vs Barca (1 point/2 matches) than Conte (0 point).

And what? Did Spalletti won something for his 2 years here? Did the team has progressed in the end of his tenure? Did we were playing some kind of extraordinary and entertaining football?

Feel free to get frustrated by your own words. I never say such bullshit. Far from the main point of the post.

I know but what is your point that Spalleti won 1 point more than Conte vs Barsa? It's better coach or what? Comparing coaches for two games is ridiculous.

Did you even read the post which I quoted? I never said Spalletti is a better coach than Conte either.

The point is Spalletti did better than Conte vs Barca and equal in CL overall. Give credit where it is due and blame where it deserve. 0 point in two matches is NOT something to be happy with.

You're ignoring a bunch of stuff.

Barella, Sensi, Brozo this season vs last season, Dr Vrij this season vs last season, Bastoni...

This season's formation is a fucking lightyear ahead of what we had last season.

I think its very unfair to compare Spalletti with Conte. To both of them. They came when the club was in a very different situation with different objectives and invested very differently.

Spalletti took over a club in poor state mentally after years of underperformance/chaos and no CL. In his two years, Inter did not invest on players much due to FFP or whatever. Spalletti steadied the ship and got us consistent top 4 finishes. He achieved what he was here for.

Conte took over a top 4 club where the dressing room was disrupted due to indiscipline from star players. Conte got a huge investment from the club to reform and make us a Scudetto contender. And so far he is doing exactly that.

I would leave it at that. Different situations, different objectives. But both coaches have achieved or are achieving the desired results.

I just see you are the only human living in cave, crawl out and share your experience

I support Inter, so I appreciate the man who brought us to light and I support also the current coach whom brings us to the next level. Unlike ungrateful cunt like you, whose posts are never longer than two lines, with zero brain involved and the only purpose is to insult people.

Wouldn't say failing to advance from the CL group is a desired result.
Nor was Spalletti's failure in Europe last season which was a catalyst to the management wanting him out. Everything else followed from that moment.

For Spalletti, the objective was Top 4 finish. Anything more would've been bonus. We were in a group with Barca, Spurs (who reached the finals) and PSV. So finishing third, level on 8 points with Spurs was quite respectable in that group, even if we fucked it up in the end. In hindsight it looks like a failure (because of our good start). But when we saw that draw, no one thought we had a chance, many feared we will be humiliated. We did ok.

You have to see the starting point, the objective at that starting point, and then judge the performance. You cannot move the goal posts after a few wins, and then if we don't achieve the new inflated objective you label the whole season a failure. For e.g.: If Conte finishes this season with 85 points on 3rd position, you may call it a failure because we had 46 points at halfway stage. But if you look at the starting point at the beginning of the season, 85 points will be a very respectable haul for this season and will show progress.

An 85 points finish in Serie A would be welcome and a sign of progress. But the problem with moving goalposts is that when you spend as much as we did, the objective should always be to go for the win. Why do you think even Marotta openly talks about Scudetto chances in January? You think it has anything to do with Conte or the team? It has everything to do with Zhang. He has committed so much money that he wants to see something come out of it. Conte is just shielding himself by saying it's premature, indirectly suggesting that the money spent was either not significant or didn't bring quality up ("players from Sassuolo and Cagliari", "we didn't buy half of Real Madrid" etc). He's just getting into the crossfire of Marotta and the ownership. Marotta has to appease his employers that what we have done so far is with the aim to win something. If we go all the way and come up short, no one will say anything. If on the other hand we have a collapse, it's all on him and his choices and he will feel the wrath of Zhang who was expecting to see Inter be in Serie A contention within his 3rd season (which was last season, but granted he accepts that the first season was a failure due to his choices, it's probably postponed to this season) and brought Marotta to rectify this. Maybe he'll be patient and let Marotta have more than 1 full season to prove this, but there's a reason he was brought in late November/early December of 2019.

The Zhang plan was to have Inter in the Champions League by 2017, their first season. Inter finished 4th the season before by the way, it wasn't one of those 8/9th place finishes. It came in 2018 after they hired Spalletti and had that disastrous mercato of 2016.
The idea was to be able to win the Champions League within 5 seasons and be at the top of Italy by the end of the decade. We're doing much better than before Suning, but we have to be realistic and admit that we're off schedule. Mostly due to their own fault with the Kia debacle and indirectly with the Chinese restrictions. Maybe next year as long as we stick to the same plan.

What exactly is the goal now? Where were the goalposts set at the beginning of the season? I don't think anyone signed up for being eliminated from the Champions League unless we had a freak group with Real Madrid + Bayern/City/Liverpool or something. Dortmund wasn't much trouble. As the Spurs weren't much trouble either. Their path after the group stage is irrelevant. That could have also been us.
