10 years of FIFYeah. This is always the issue specially if the player is not important (ie. sure starter). With Godin, it's a bit debatable since he was very important at the end of the season when he grew to be part of that nucleus of hard defending unit we had.
Another big dilemma in this respect is of course Eriksen. Very high annual cost, but a total bench player so far and not considered important. Let's see if that changes.

Forum Supporter10 years of FIFAye. Thing is though between godin vs skriniar I would rather invest the money to try to make skriniar good than get a good year out of godin and have to replace him next season

His character may be flawless, but his performances not so any more. I still remember his lack of agile-reaction during the UCL games or the EL finals where it mattered the most.
So the problem in management`s view seems to be in terms of what he offers/deliveres on the pitch VS what he is being payed for [€7m per season salary reported by Corriere della Sera, as his salary seems to have increased after initial season]. Probably Marotta thinks he can get a cheaper backup, at least of the same reliability.

10 years of FIFYe gazzetta uses the term a un passo which almost always means the deal is basically done. There were rumours of him leaving but Cagliari indeed is a weird destination to say the least...

Best Overall PosterThen it makes a bit sense from Godin's side but it still doesn't make a lot of sense for Inter. We're talking about a guy who was a starter at the end of last season. So Conte certainly rates him. If you add up the rumour of a possible Ranocchia departure, we absolutely need to get a replacement. How are we going to afford it when we reportedly have no money to spend? Furthemore, there's no way Cagliari can afford his wages so we need to give him a severance pay to terminate his contract? Is it really worth it for us?

10 years of FIFI don’t get this deal. Godin’s issue is high salary. But Cagliari wouldn’t offer him even half of his current, why don’t we offer him a pay cut and keep him? Godin is our 3rd best CBs atm (and yes, even better than Skriniar). Dont worth mentioning Darmian or Rano.

Maybe he will give Skriniar another chance as a starter, if De Vrij is injured he'd be replaced by Skriniar, moving Darmian or D'Ambro to right side. Maybe Conte also values Pirola and is willing to give him a chance.

Why not ask him to take 1/2. No way they give him 3 million. A season

Waste money on shitters like Darmian, Kolarov and probably a couple more cheap crap players, then sell Godin who we should definately be keeping, especially as we play with 3 CB's and need quality depth. We should be getting rid of Vecino and Gagsy and replacing them.
Top that off with the fact that we lost Tonali and now have Mario, Dalbert, Perisic etc back in the squad.
We are going backwards.
