“When you have 11 foreigners in a team, this is not good for the development of football, for the education of young players, and there is a financial aspect too.”

If that is not racism, I don't know what is.

Blatter should be kicked out.

Actually the state of football we have today is racism.
Where white rase can play in all European clubs in unlimited numbers while number of players of other races is very limited.

Blatters proposal is actually nazism where even the amount of white folks would be limited due to their nationality.

Both things are wrong.

I don't think having more white players is racism, unless the coaches are putting in europeans over other races, which i don't think they are. if they are, that is something to be taken up with the particular coach or club, not placing restrictions on all the leagues.

Racism is denying someone equal rights based on their race. Al people have equal opportunity to play football for clubs, but coaches pick based on skill. the starting eleven are the most skilled and fit players, not based on race or background or pay check, usually.

Just because more europeans are starting doesn't mean the system is racist,it means the europeans are more skilled or have better chemistry with the team.

This idea would take time to be implemented cause not only us, but a lot of other big european clubs have adapted the same approach as us, look at arsenal
their first eleven:

Lehmann {Germany]
Sagner {French or African]
Toure [ Ivory Coast]
Gallas [ Frenchie]
Clichy [ I love Paris]
Eboue [ Ivory Coast]
Flamini [ Frenchie ]
Fabregas [Spanish]
Hleb [ Bosnian]
Van Persie [ Dutch ]
Adebayor [ Togo]

Hleb bosnian? I think he is from Belarussia. And it's Sagna and not Sagner, and he is French.

Anyway, so what? Good on Arsenal, they have their best years under a French contingent, or do you want them to be like Everton or Reading?

Also, it's not their fault that some Arsenal-bread English players turn out bastards and money hungry like Cole and stab them in the back and join their rivals.

Instead of focusing entirely on the team, FIFA should be fair and also tell the youngsters not to be greedy and not to go for the best payer.

If this rule comes into place what would inter have to do, to fit the requirements, we have orlandoni, tldo, and materazzi..thats it for italians..im guessing we would have to dip into the primavera team, but we cant do that all the time...im not 100% clear on this situation so forgive me for what i say wrong.

Well, i dont think this rule will come. And IF it will it wont be from today changed tomorrow, they will give it time so then we dont have to ruine our Primavera. But still, i dont see this rule ever coming. How many stupid things have Blatter said, and wich things of them has ever come true? Not everything he say will come true, and i think and hope this also wont. It would ruine soccer.....

i dont like baltter being an italian myself i found it extremely insultive with his comments towardsitaly not deserving the penalty against austrailia, and they not deserving the world cup, and he didnt even hand the cup to italy..thats rude as owner of fifa. Hes an italian hater i think....he said he would do alot of things but not many things have changed....so its probably just one of those things thrown into the mix to get people thinking.

Yes, i also thought this, also what he said about Totti ecc, everything in 1 picture he seems anti-Italy. Its bad as FIFA owner, but still we must stand above this. He will speak in the media, we will speak on the field.
I think he just likes to get attention, and when he doenst get enough he just say some stupid things.....i cant believe how people can be like this, and specially not someone like him......

Shame not everybody can be great like our great Facchetti, not only Inter but the whole football world misses him!!

Racism is denying someone equal rights based on their race.

That was my point precicely.
Clubs can sighn countless white people (EU citizens) while they are alowed to sighn very limited number of other races (non EU citizens).
So rights of black man from Africa and white guy from europe are in no way equal.

:lol  I cant believe people are actually this dumb to believe this is racism. Why only limit it to footballers then? Its very hard for an African accountant to get a job or even a visa to England or Italy, IS that not racism? Its not giving an African the same chance, as an Italian or English men. While infact African or Asian footballers have much better chance of making it to Europe, than an equally competent African doctor or Accountant.

Why do universities charge foriegn students so much. Is that not racism? Canadian universities charge American students 3 times more than what they charge local students. Holy crap, I didnt know Canadians were this racist. They are treating Americans and other foreign students differently just because they dont have the same colour of passport as them?

I seriously didnt know that we used to live in such a racist world.
Some idiots really need to realise their is a big difference between racism and nationalism.

Stop using racism as a means to justify things. Its like a black guy, snatching a purse from an old lady and then getting caught and put up in jail, and then crying, he is in jail, cause he is back.
Its like that idiot Austrlian cricket umpire Deryll Hair, who had a grudge against Asian teams, finally getting kicked out of elite panel of umpires, cause of his continuous crappy decision, crying that Asians teams wanted him out, cause he is white. NO, they didnt. They wanted you out, cause you are a worthless piece of arrogant shit, who does not deserve to be near a cricketing stadium.
Racism is a sensitive issue, and I hate it when people try to take advantage of it.

Football clubs need to have a few more locals in their team, they should be out there trying to promote and help the development of youngsters. They need to be true to their roots, and have home grown players in their squads. If everyone starts following us or Arsenal, then it would be really bad for the country's football as a whole. Doesnt mean that fill up our squad with Italians, just have one or two in our squad, so we can have the feeling, yes we are an Italian club from Milan.

Blatter is an idiot though, not a racist. Probably is, but not from these comments. :p. Restricting foreigners to 5 in starting X1, is never gonna work. G-14 will fight it to their death. I think Uefa's proposal of having 3 academy and 3 home grown players in your squad of 22, is much more sensible.

Well... It's not racist. And we can cope with it if dual nationalitites are counted:

Crespo
Burdisso
Zanetti
Suazo ???
Cordoba

and maybe a few others i can't remember of now hold Italian passports... Those are 5 already and usually starters, if we buy 2-3 Italians as well then there should be no problem...

But Blatter is wrong... Footballers are workers. If they're not workers then what the heck do they wait for 2 weeks time in England to grant permission for a WORK permit????

Shaz, protecting own prostpect is a natural thing, and I will never call Italy's policy of allowing only one non-EU player per season a racism. What I felt wrong was Blatter's unreasonable excuse for 6+5.

Out of EPL, La Liga and Serie A, Serie A has highest no. of national players, while England has one of the lowest. We all know which league is financially better. Add to that, I don't think Zidane, Maradonna, Batistuta, and Van Vasten didn't contribute to the 'education' factor in Italy.

Yes, I'll agree if he just said each nation needs to pay more attention on their own players. Blaming financial and education on foreign players(which 80% of them have EU passports) are what I don't go along with. Vieri has about 20 restaurants in U.S, and spends his holiday in NYC. Did he contribute much financially in Italy? I don't think so.

if this is put in place inter will have to buy some more italian players once the transfer market opens up. A good idea maybe to replace figo when he retires with someone italian. Blatter is just making it tough on everyone players, coaches, owners especially. This doesent have to be done. The ways serie A and other leagues are funcioning this year is excelent, theres no need in disrupting it.

Not a single english player, at least we have Orlandoni, Matrix and Toldone and there so many other clubs which have only foriegners in their lineups like in Poland, there is this small club whose president wants it to compete at least in their domestic title race so what he did, he went to brazil and bought like twelve or thirteen brazilians for his squad and now his team only has brazilians lol and when he was asked about their arrivals, he replied, " Well, we all know that brazilians play beautiful football so hopefully they will deliver us the goods too." :boogy: :boogy:

An excellent example.

There is one point that everyone has missed. It is a fact that International Italian players in Serie A tend to command bigger salaries than say South American or African players.

In a nutshell foreign players are cheaper.

:lol  I cant believe people are actually this dumb to believe this is racism.

With my backgraound in Political Science (Stockholm University), I can tell you the following:
Both racism and nazism have many forms.
Discrimination toward prople of different nationality (highlighted in Blatter proposal).
Discrimination toward people of different race, or mostley sean threw discrimination toward people from different continents (and therefore colour is racism (EU citizens being favoured).

Favoring someone based on his nationality (in this case the Italian citizenship) is nazi while favoring someone based on his colour (all non EU citizens, mostley non white) is racism. That is pure definiciaon. It has very little to do with my perception of the problem. I am just explaining the teachings of political science.

Political Science ? Surely indigenous Northern Europeans can't be black can they ?

The facts are the darker the skin the less tolerance there is !
