We NEEDED a left back, in the offseason, and what did we see tonight? That Chivu is a back-up LB. That means Zanetti can't be used in midfield, we need him at LB, and means Mariga, Motta or Muntari (preferably Mariga) needs to be in midfield.
Does anyone remember a classic JZ run tonight? I certainly don't. All I remember is JZ losing the ball in the centre of the park with an uncharacteristic poor first touch, and then he didn't even get back into a good defensive position, choosing to defend the cut back, when there were two Atleti players in the box, with only Samuel to stop them.
We needed a Vargas, Kolarov, Ivanovic-type, but no, Moratti decides we need to tighten the wage budget, so we get rid of Balotelli, who was making below $1 million per season!!! And who is the replacement, Kun Aguero, Neymar, a young talent like a Eden Hazard? No, Biabiany!!!
Who has Juve added? Bonucci, 15m, Krasic15m, Jorge Martinez, Aquilani, Quagliarella, Marco Motta... Sure, they loaned a few, and they got the useless Simone Pepe, but seriously, a team that has won everything needs new blood, if only to provide competition for the existing spots, and keep the players who have won everything motivated!
How come we couldn't even make a signing the quality of Motta, Quagliarella, Bonucci, or Krasic???
Moratti, I understand you have sunk a lot of money in, and that new regulations are expected within a few years, but what good is success if it puts the spotlight on us in a year where we have no intention of even competing against the top teams (in the transfer market)???
