but we bought alvarez and jonathan, players we didn't need that badly. we just made the wrong buys, thats all.

They're not here for immediate impact, or to be regular starters. Jonathan might replace Maicon soon, and Alvarez can turn out to be a good midfielder if used in his preferred position.

so basically we didn't need them? we need players NOW, to make an IMPACT NOW, but instead we spent the few euros we have on back ups? is that what you're telling me?

Basically. Some believe we are only spending enough to just stay competitive in Serie A as Gasp does not have Moratti's full backing. The areas we focused on this mercato could bare fruit in a couple years.

New age tight-sphincter Moratti won't spend LARGE for a coach he does not trust.

Jonathan will replace Maicon here and there this season. He's pretty old to play a full season imho. Zanetti isn't that good as a RB these days, and I don't trust Faraoni much. Don't know about Alvarez tbh, I would appreciate it more if we got a proven midfielder in Europe, but it seems like he "amazed" our management with his abilities. We need them both for the future, and I believe they're both good signings.

We didn't need them. But don't try explaining this simple reasoning to the MM/Branca goonies. It seems like a foreign concept to them that especially when you have limited resources, it is better to address NECESSITIES than LUXURIES.

i loved the part where he was on holiday sun tanning on the beach while the rest of us were sitting at home trying not to panic :lol: only inter.

Well it doesn't surprise me that people on the internet are still finding things to complain (read: nitpick) about, but I for one am happy I did not hit the panic button before the mercato was closed. Very solid, if unspectacular, summer. Definitely something to build on.

CL this season? Prob not, but we will definitely compete for lo scudetto. IMO asking for anything more than that is naive.

Good job Branca. You can only do so much on a tight budget, I can't really complain considering what we did get. Some of those rumored names looked overrated.

its frustrating arguing with you lot because you refuse to be reasoned with. Fact is we could've done a whole lot better in the market. Hadrian, you said you expect Branca to sign 1/2 quality mids in the remainings days of the mercato. did that happen?

Okay lets put it another way, could the money spent on Jonathan and Alvarez and Kukca be spent elsewhere and more wisely? you keep saying we have a tight budget but there the money was for the aforementioned. I get it, times are tough. We need to curb spending etc. But the money was made available to buy players this mercato. But instead we buy alvarez, jonathan and kucka (at an overvalued price). Again I ask, did we need these players? We had Coutinho and Santon already. Did we need these players? Where they a priority? That's all i want to know.
