The funny thing is, even when Banega played ''badly'', his statistics (passing etc.) were far from bad. It's just because we had very high expectations of him because he's a top player that we were disproportianately disappointed.

I'm so happy he's starting to settle in, he gives our attack another dimension. He scores goals (FKs included) and can play the killer pass, plus he some flair in him. His set of skills make him ideal in that position.

im very very glad we have to very strong players on the no. 10.
it is one of those positions where players tend to be streaky (look at özil, sneijder while at inter, banega here, joao mario here, ...), so it is great to have stiff competition motivating players to give their best.

his dead ball definitely make him indispensable to this team. fantastic game

Yeah hes amazing when the opponent stops playing, but how about when it actually matters?

Though I blame Pioli too for not giving him a chance against teams like Roma.

Fantastic game from him. I can't recall a time where I saw two players from the same team score a hatrick.

He's done great when it matters too. Against Cagliari, his assist/goal opened up the game. Not to mention he was also one of our best players against Juventus, Roma, and Lazio, all at moments when it mattered (although we lost against Roma despite his goal). I also think he was instrumental in our comeback win against Pescara early on in the season. And he came on against Bologna to win us the match with the great play for Gabigol's goal.

He doesn't have the greatest physicality, so I think his issue is more that he fades out rather than him not playing well when it matters.

Finally, now lets bench Candreva and use both Banega and Joao Mario :closeenough:

Does anyone know if it was him who gave the initial pass to Icardi, when we won the free kick which led to the first goal? That was a great ball, I just can't remember who made the pass.

It came from a Medel clearance after we recovered the ball a little outside of the penalty area

It wasn't a clearance. Medel wasn't under a lot of pressure. I think it was an intentional pass by Gary Pirlo

He's pretty good playing the ball from defense tbh, but falling on his ass on the goal wasn't his best moment.

well, i think he can be forgiven for that. it shouldn't happen and it better not happen again, but we were winning 5-0.
