Again, I fully agree with your point and I have been arguing here for years now about this very point and some still don't get it. However, there is no need to call anyone clueless or to ask him to blow himself or something.

Cristian Chivu could be officially an Inter player by nightfall, according to the latest reports – and Roma teammate Daniele De Rossi.

The two clubs have been silent on the state of the transfer, but somebody forgot to tell midfielder De Rossi during today’s Press Conference.

“I am sorry to see him go, especially as he’ll be reinforcing a direct opponent in the Scudetto race and that will weaken us,” said the Giallorossi youngster.

This statement was combined with already existing reports that the agreement had been reached for a £10m cash move.

The deal was achieved because Inter President Massimo Moratti stumped up £7m and the rest comes from Chivu lowering his wages.

The defender’s contract terms will go from the original proposal of £3.7m to ‘just’ £2.3m per season for five years.

Roma wanted to decide the Romanian’s future one way or the other before Thursday, as they did not want this saga to overshadow the 80th anniversary celebrations of the club’s foundation.

took a smaller salary of 2mil euros less to 3.5mil euros

guess he was really convinced playing for inter would yield trophies

or else he wouldve gone to real madrid

pretty sure barca offered chivu this figure and real madrid offered 4mil euros for his services

correct me if im wrong

Gazetta says 1 million wage drop from 5.5 to 4.5 million and tgcom says from 4.5 to 3.5 million.

If he really believes in Inter and gave up his salary, because he was desperate to join us, then he is going to be one of my favourites.

But, do you really think he wants to stay in Rome where some fans are hungry for his blood?

I don't think he gave up his salary. More probable is that he signed with Inter for a mil less then he wanted to make the transfer smoother. Even so Chivu is a great signing and I'm very happy he will come.. IMO now we have all the players we need. Buying too many is the dumbest thing you could do when having a dominating winning squad. Moratti has already assured the fans he won't go crazy in the transfer market so I'm feeling confident for next season.
