He is ok, has improved a lot under Montella. Definitely way better than fucking Schelotto... But not the player we need for sure, unless we play 3 at the back and he is the RWB, i don't see other suitable position for him. He is too weak defensively to play as RB, his natural position, and his end product is shit to be played as RW in 4-2-3-1/4-3-3. He has pace and good dribbling skills, so he could come in handy, but knowing Udinese, they will ask 10+ mils for him which is imo, too much. Not sure if Viola has fixed price for him?

I'd rather go for Isla, since i think JuBe will send him back.

Well, I do want us to keep a back 3 option for games that need it, and in a 433 he's a good rotation option for our starting RWF.
Having said that, I agree that Isla would be a great signing.

Yeah, but you dont spend 10+ mils for a back-up RW when you lack starters :D

Fiorentina have an option to co-own Cuadrado for 5mil Euros. Considering we don't have a relationship with Fiorentina and Udinese will rape us, there is no chance of this deal happening and i'm glad.

If won't be too long before U KNOW WHO replies in this thread about how great Cuadrado is and how he is better than Paulinho, Zanetti, etc

Haha how many times have you honestly seen Paulinho play? Cuadrado is also 15 years younger than Zanetti(who isn't going to play til he is 50). Tons of great Udi guys we could have gotten cheap but we preferred to hold the all the money that could have gotten us Isla. Cuadrado, asamoah to get rejected by Paulinho

To be fair, I feel like no matter who we sign, he won't be a nailed down starter. Isla I really like because he's a good RWB, decent RB, and offers a different threat in CM, but I can't imagine him starting anywhere except RWB. Cuadrado's more difficult to obtain, more dynamic in attack, weaker defensively, but I think he'd get more playing time.

We're in hypothetical mode at this stage, and I'd be very happy with either.

I never said Paulinho is better, I hate that twat after he rejected us twice. It's you how compares them when Paulinho is a CM/DM and Cuadrado is a RWB

Pajo just summed it all up here

Not defensive enough to be a RB and no end product to be a RW. I don't want him because I don't rate him high enough to spend half our budget on, and i don't wanna see a back 3 ever again.

If our defenders next season are :

Juan, Ranochhia, Andreolli, Campagnaro, Douglas/Cadriola, Zanetti, Nagatomo, Jung/Peruzzi/Montoya then I will be satisfied.

Juve spend 9mil to co-own Isla. He will probably end up going back to udinese for half that price tbh. If we can pick him up for 9-10 mil for FULL OWNERSHIP, i will take that deal. This guy is also a decent cm. Im sure he played CM for Udinese in 2011/12 season before he got injured. That Basta plays RWB/RM for Udinese, he even keeps Faraoni out the team. If we bought him Isla were better off playing him in CM, we dont have many b2b midfielder in this team.

Cuadrado hasn't plays RB since he left Colombia. He can play Rb did pretty well in that spot against Boliia last month but he is defiantly a attacking player. I just find it funny to hear people here(not saying you) say that Cuadrado is shit but some 2nd division Argie or some
Random player no one heard about is better. Especially when they don't play the same position.

We need a right back( Cuadrado isn't one) and we need to admit that we have to and can bench Zanetti. I am tired of reading how we have a 3 year youth plan and he is always in it. Not let's get Someone to replace him but no people hear expect Zanetti to be starting here till 2016.

Have a feeling our management are pretty keen on Peruzzi.

On another note, word on the grapevine is we are planning to bring back Biraghi. Browha, please tell us how much has he progresed since going on loan? Also, please tell me about Caldirola's situation.

Well, thats an interesting one.

Someone commented recently that Biraghi has the talent to be a top Serie A player - whereas someone like Donati will be a very solid Serie B player, maybe low Serie A.

Biraghi on loan last year wasn't so great, he was struggling for game time. He's been benched a few times in the last few games, but overall he's been playing a LOT for Cittadella. By the looks of it, he's got quite a few assists too. I would HAPPILY accept him as being the swap for Pereira - we free up a lot of equity from that and he cant be much worse.

Caldirola isnt doing as impressively as last season, I would say, but he is playing a lot for his two clubs this year. I would also accept him as being a replacement for Chivu - but realistically I think it should be a Serie A loan for him next year. I dont necessarily know if he's going to be a top Serie A player, but you also have to admit he's probably better than someone like Andreolli.

If we play 3 at the back yeah, but if we play 4, fuck no. Basta is VERY poor defender. And he is soon to be 29, not young by any means, and quite injury prone.

Out of all the players we are looking for at the RB/RM position, my preferred would be Isla. A back four of Isla-Ranocchia-Juan Jesus-Nagatomo would be perfect and Isla played like that in a 4-3-3 formation with Udinese.

I'd like to see fullbacks that can defend competently, naga has some pretty big flaws defensively. Mainly his physical stature and positioning, which he somewhat makes up for with his pace and determination. If isla can provide defensive solidarity, then I'm all for it because good fullbacks add depth and width which inter lacks.

that back four wouldn't be good without a good DM to support them

Isla also hasn't played in a back 4 in 3 years outside of maybe a couple matches w/ Chile. Under Guidolin Udinese played exclusively 3 at the back, and that's when Isla was at his best. Not that he couldn't play as a right back in a back 4, but that's not how he played at Udinese apart from a few matches 3 years ago.

He didn't even play as RM/RWB in the last season for Udine too. Basta was their RM. Isla was either RCM, or SS. I haven't seen more versatile player than him, that's for sure.
