How many seasons do you think Milito has left?

I know we are broke but we should get a player who would eventually replace Milito not just some back up.

At the moment we have one decent CF and box to box midfielder. If nothing happens then it will be even worse than last season.

I don't want a "vice Milito", I want someone good enough to compete with him for a starting position.

As far as I know, we have around 17m to spend, which can go up if it's a popular player (someone who sells shirts, etc.)
Not quite enough to get a superstar, but we do have a number of player to bargain with for exchanges. In my opinion, our defence is okay (can survive another year anyway), midfield, while not perfect, can function, but our attack needs a signing. Whether that signing is a top RW and Palacio becomes Milito's competitor, or Palacio plays as our main RW and the signing is a CF, I don't really care.

vice this, vice that, fuck vice really .... so we really in for an attacking mid, a starter for 4.3.2.1. For 2 eligible places behind the striker there are Cou, Wes, Ricky, Livaja and this X dude we're gonna get eventually. Enough i say, quality and quantity wise. So let Milito, Palacio and Longo fill the striker role candidates. Palacio can play upfront as a lone striker, i know it, i've seen him do that.

How much would Chicharito cost?
If we can't spend money, we should look after a deal like Lazio did last year with Klose. Better bringing in an old guy who can score, than a 30 year one who can't do anything.

Lazio took a similar risk with Klose as we took with Forlan. It worked for them and didnt for us.

No.
The difference is, that Klose can play only as "real striker", in difference to Forlan who was more used as a winger by Inter. Forlan played out of position, instead Klose was able to play on "his" position. That's why it worked.

Hindsight at it's best. One can always afterwards rationalize every success and failure. Forlan's failure wasn't due to playing out od position. Klose's success was surprise to most, admit it or not.

Kloses success did you surprise? LOL
He was always a killer in front of the goal, like it or not.

Yeah, it's so easy to say AFTERWARDS that you expected Klose to be that good he was with Lazio.

On another note, it's been rumoured that Chicarito wants to leave. We should make an assault right now. We are a team who can't afford top players that clubs doesn't want to sell. We have to attack when there is - for one reason or another - an opportunity to sign a player for a lower fee. With van Persie moving to ManU and Modric seemingly going to Madrid, Hernandez and Sahin could be available; possibly for similar amount of money we were reportedly ready to pay for Lucas.

edit. this forum is so fucked up when one poster posts twice in a row. I have no energy to write again what I wanted to say about Klose.

Chicarito is a pure poacher by the way. And if his price is over 20m€, then GTFO :D No reason to pay that much. With Lucas and our ability to pay, it was about Pirelli money and Lucas being marketable as a Brazilian wonderkid.

Of course he is a pure poacher, but also very good at that and very mobile and quick. If Strama wants a striker who is very involved in our play and who brings the ball from the deep, he is not our man. But if he simply wants a mobile and fast striker, he could be our long term solution. I think highly of him.

Yes, let's get a top striker and ignore the fact that our midfield can barely move without Guarin.

Let's also ignore the fact that Pazzini is apparently leaving, which leaves us with ONE proper striker, and he is 33. We should sign a long-term first striker whenever an opportunity arises. 33 year old striker being the number one in a big club ("we are not a big club, blah blah...") is almost unheard of, his decline could be FAST.
