Tiemoue Bakayoko.

On a more serious note, it's still early to expect rumours about a Brozovic replacement. We need to wait for the medical results first. If Brozovic injury is serious, we should certainly get another midfielder. If Paredes is still on the market, i wouldn't mind taking him on loan. I don't think we could get someone better with our budget.

We won't get a direct Brozovic replacement. How long is he out for anyway?

We may end up selling Valero to Saudi Arabia, Spain, MLS or Fiorentina even. So we will open up that roster spot. But the problem is that we don't know what kind of player we will be getting instead. Is it a long term guy or a quick fix? Or some expensive short term target such as Rakitic or Vidal who will be vital for the remainder of this season and the next, but after that not so much and if things don't go well we won't be able to adequately replace by then.

As long as Tonali is available, we're not getting a long term guy.

I meant Tonali would be the long term guy :)
Or Castrovili. Or maybe even SMS who we are still lingering over.

Seems we have no money that’s why we aren’t pulling the trigger on the guys we are linked to

Can we not recall our loan players?

Politano and Vecino for Castrovili

I rate Castrovilli. He was being linked to us a short time ago but its gone all quiet since.

A poster on here categorised him as being the same kind of player, in terms of calibre as Vecino and Gagliardini but I disagree with that assessment.

Castrovili is talented and all that, but I wouldn't rate him higher than the group of Pellegrini, Sensi etc. He's a step ahead of the likes of Cataldi but is far closer to those guys than the ones a level ahead. He's pretty much on par with Mandragora etc. He's still young and can improve though but I don't think he'll ever reach the levels that Tonali will.

From the Tonali generation there's Pobega who looks something like a hybrid Aquilani & Gagliardini. But the only other real deal talent in the middle seems to be Davide Frattesi of Roma. Not sure if he still belongs to them. He plays in Serie B now. It is said that Brescia will seek to replace Tonali with this kid.

If the market and price for tonali continues to expand the way it has, Castrovilli and Mandragora will be better value.

According to Calciomercato, Castrovilli has already received the approval from coach Antonio Conte. Even ownership and management consider him as an ideal piece to continue their path of finding the best and brightest young Italian talents (see Barella and Sensi last summer). His performances have attracted attention from all top Italian clubs especially Inter which have his name very high up on the list of desirable signings when June comes around.

Hope this does not mean we`re outpriced for Tonali.

It'll be either Tonali or Castrovilli. It seems like both fit the profile we're looking for. We can't take both as there wouldn't be room for both unless we completely revamp the midfield AGAIN

A Valero and Vecino swap for Castrovilli would be a good deal.

How many ball-playing CM’s are we planning on buying?

I’m not on “Team Tonali” but do we not need a DM more than another CM?

If you watch him you'll understand.

He's quite awkward with the ball but he always gets to the box. When he's there he can play one-twos and become a scoring threat

As for Tonali, the situation will depend on our mercato now. If we manage to dry out our coffers we won't be able to give Brescia what was promised. As of now, we are still in pole position.

What if Marotta will sign De Paul before both Tonali & Castrovilli?

According to Il Libero, Giuseppe Marotta has contacted Udinese to sign Rodrigo De Paul immediately in January. After basically abandoning the option of Arturo Vidal, Inter need another midfielder in case of Vecino’s exit and the Argentinian seems to be the right fit for the Nerazzurri. The demand, however, is €25M.

I don`t know how reliable this source is, given that all sources indicated €40m asking price + GdS confirming that unfortunately no convincing offers have arrived for Matias Vecino.

I think De Paul is on standby if we sell Vecino. If not, nothing will be done.

well, if we do sell politano for 25 mil, that's where the money for de paul would come from. though i'm not sure 25 would be enough.

tbh, after securing Eriksen we would need a physical b2b type of midfielder, not sure if De Paul would be right choice.

De Paul is probably for the summer. As is Tonali and all other options.

In this window, unless we can get any of these guys on the cheap, we will settle for Eriksen and if we sell someone Vidal will also be in pursuit.

I just hope we don't go for Matic or Rakitic in case Vidal fails. That will hinder our summer mercato and long term progress.
