Romano reports Gudmundsson's price is 25-30m€.
Starting the season with 4 forwards was always a bad idea. It's the 3rd season in a row we are dealing with injuries upfront and had to play with 3 forwards in several matches. If our available forwards struggle at the time things get worse as well. For example against Atletico if we had more than Sanchez on the bench the final result could be different. We need five forwards for the next season and Taremi and Arna don't convince to be our sole options from the bench, so it's understandable that the board is thinking about another forward. Arna should gladly take the 5th spot, as he hasn't showed enough to be our first option from the bench. What is interesting to me there are these Gudmundsson and Raspadori rumors in the first place. Taremi is already booked so the rumor mongers are already considering we're still going to sign a forward. Meaning we try to dump Arnautovic out, or would he stay as 5th striker (heavy salary for that role)?
Could be also we're just doing preparation work for the case a big offer arrives for some of our players.
Yeah I understand this.Starting the season with 4 forwards was always a bad idea. It's the 3rd season in a row we are dealing with injuries upfront and had to play with 3 forwards in several matches. If our available forwards struggle at the time things get worse as well. For example against Atletico if we had more than Sanchez on the bench the final result could be different. I don't exactly remember Arna's salary but I doubt it was very high, something around 2-3m IIRC. So far nothing shows that the club is counting on Carboni for the next season, he will mostly likely go out on loan again. Yeah we might struggle with the salaries a bit, but with Cuadrado, Klassen, Sensi, Sanchez and Correa out we could manage to keep the salaries more or less the same as this season's.Yeah I understand this.
It's just hard for me to see how we could have 5 forwards, everyone making some real salary. I mean, Arnautovic is not exactly playing with youngster level salary. My understanding is we still need to keep cutting costs to break even eventually so I just don't see us going to the next season with 5 qualified forwards. Someone like Carboni could be that 5th forward (because of the salary), but that's another discussion, is it smart for kid's progress.
I have a hunch if gudmundson comes, inzaghi will play him as midfielder, lol. He definitely reminds me of mkhi and has those qualities...
If we are looking for such profiles we have already a 40m-rated on loan. Much younger, free, playing for Argentina NT at teenager age so crazier ceiling. Save those 30m.Gudmunson doesn't strike me as a forward. He is more suitable asLCM or even LWB in our system imo.
Because Inter, we will use him as a bargain chip to get a 5-10m discountYea.. I don't get why we won't try playing Carboni. If Carboni was owned by Boca Jrs and is playing at this level we would be trying to throw 40 mil at him instead.,
That's the ideal scenario if we are rich. But we must think of Inter-the-club before one's career. My nuts are upgrade over Correa, but it will be really stupid to keep Carboni and use him 10min in every other game. He needs to play regularly next 2 seasons and after that to get a chance if he develops properly.
Depends how is structured the deal. If he sell Carboni for 15-20mln and have a reasonable buy back clause for next two seasons, and buy Gudmunson for 30mln, it doesn't look so bad. But, there is huge BUT, if Inzaghi knows how to integrate Gudmunson properly in the first team, or at least if he is a first opinion off the bench. Im personally not a big fan for Gudmunson, but he seems capable of fulfilling different roles. From another hand Inzaghi looks like have very specific role for each player, and doesn't like to deviate from it. Honestly I'd prefer Lookman, as he has a clear position, and has some special attributes. Considering that Atalanta will want to redeem De Catelare, and they will need money, Lookman could be available for 30-35mln imo. That's the ideal scenario if we are rich. But we must think of Inter-the-club before one's career.
If we buy another striker e.g. Gudmunsson we must sacrifice Carboni; or keep and save extra 15m, what's your choice?
Yes I mean losing him definitely coz I don't think we could ever spend 25m+ for a kid, buyback clause or not. When he blossoms is already out of our reach.
But Gudmunson is?Lookman isn't Inter material, stop throwing that name around
Unless it's a bosman as the 5th option, let go
He's probably coming as a 5th option in midfield, so I guess he is.But Gudmunson is?
5th option for 30mln is ridiculous, unless we sell Frattesi for more. Zielinski is coming as well. He's probably coming as a 5th option in midfield, so I guess he is.
