Yea I agree. Where did you get sot against? Can you compare this vs De Gea's last 2 seasons? I saw that lots of man utd fans regretting not extending De gea, just wondering how bad onana is in respect to De gea.
I googled it and found this site. I dont know how reliable it is, I've never used it before, but the numbers seem to make sense

De Gea is here - https://fbref.com/en/players/7ba6d84e/David-de-Gea

at United he had 35.7% Clean sheet, 73.3% save rate, 1582 shots on target against in 415 games, and 1.05 goals against per 90 minutes, and 1582 shots for 446 goals

Onana is 25.9%, 73.3%, 135/27, 1.44 GA/90 respectively, and 135 shots for 39 goals

By comparison, De Gea was conceeding 3.5 shots per goal, Onana is 3.46 shots per goal, so he's pretty much in line with De Gea (Bearing in mind some high profile blunders too, but obviously De Gea had that as well) - its really a sign that United's defense is actually a lot worse (comparing his number of goals per 90 vs De Gea). IMHO. As a data guy, that's the story I see in those figures.

An example would be, we never were losing and then "his amazing feet" got us to draw or win.

Or, we were never 0:0 and "amazing feet" made it 1:0.
If amazing feet means good in possession and quick passing to expose a weakness in opps defence, then yes, I think he got two "hockey assists" last season at least

One of the goals in the 3:3 against Barcelona was Onana's long ball to Lautaro for Gosens goal.

The other one I can't remember, but I know it was in the league

I feel bad for him.
Imagine you restart with new team, great city, great guys, super season, everything settled just perfect and they say you have to go to absolutely broken but reach team with millions of problems and worst defense in "top teams", every single mistake and they blame you for everything, even for Antony.

If he returns he may have 4-5 great years with us.

It wasn't like he was forced to leave, there was legitimate interest from the market and he was ready to go, we were ready to sell.

and it isnt like he hasnt had some major fuck ups too

yes, he's playing in a worse defense which does not help him at all, but some of his mistakes have been worse than handa

The notion that 'its all uniteds fault he is shit' from alot of Inter fans is pretty weird tbh.

I remember him mainly being great for Inter in the CL tbh. In the league we conceded 27 goals in 24 matches with him in goal, thats pretty bad. Sure the defense wasnt great that season, but the keeper is part of the defense.

Could it be that he isnt as great as some people make him out to be? The massive brainfarts he makes at times, certainly cant be the defense fault.

Vastly overrated keeper here on FIF in my opinion.

I think he's a pretty good keeper, but he does rely on a defence that concedes fewer shots for him to really thrive. At Inter, at least that season, he had it, and it meant his other strengths were exaggerated more (ball playing, helping us build from the back).

I suspect he's also lost it a bit mentality wise now, after a shit season its gonna be hard to mentally recover

Yeah the way our team played in front of him mattered a lot. It really helped him to be his best version IMO and at United it's kind of the opposite since they don't know at all what the fuck they are doing.

Back in form as of late. Just made a stunner. Still a top GK on his day. Can’t be easy being the keeper at United.

His ability to be another outfield player would help us a lot these days. Him finding our players upfront with the ball would be a cheat code. Not a style of play you can rely on all the time but very useful when you want to get by and just win a few games until you find permanent good form. I think we're exactly during these times.
