Goalkeeping skills aside what Onana brings to the table cannot be replaced. Vicario might be a good keeper but proven in big games ? Not so much and it would pretty much be a gamble. A solid and reliable keeper makes or breaks the team and we have a top keeper.
Financial wise we are running on fumes and one of our top players will get sold. I just hope its not Onana.

If i am being brutally honest, Onana is the worst from the last 3 GKs we had (Cesar and Handanovic). We have always been blessed with great GKs and if anything, our mgmt has earned our trust at least when it comes to goalies.

We should not buy Koulibaly in any circumstances. He's 31 and has a massive salary. Only loan, like Lukaku. I mean, if we really see Koulibaly the fit piece for this team.

We should not consider any player whose ballsack has dropped. My guy it's 2023, 31 is quite literally when most CBs enter peak prime.

I don't mind how old is he, I mind his wages. Atm we can't really afford to take in Lukaku and Koulibaly.

I'm sure Firmino would cost us less than Lukaku and is only one year older. At least we would own him.

His deficiencies can be glaring but he has the ability to win you games. And despite his history, he hasn't really cost us any. Which historically has been as possible as the opposite.

I'm getting scared everytime he has the ball and tries to do anything fancy, but he does allow us to spread further and also relieves us of the pressure at times.

And he seems to like it here. I wouldn't sell unless it's a crazy bid.

Don't have one.
Just a footnote in all of this, chelsea apparently were interested in maignan, and they offered 80 mil which apparently milan declined, and now they will probably knock on our door to see if we flinch. I know 80 mil is a lot of money, but it will hurt even more if we lose him in this type of scenario, where they were sent to hell by milan.

Yeah, Onana adds a dimension to our game. Although his long balls are not pinpoint 100% of the time (can't be), the ability to have the 11th player to play the ball to and him dishing it forward is an advantage which should have a real price (in addition to the good level of shot stopping of course). He's a real character and you need that to a goalie position.

Downgrading to Vicario is a risk. But of course with enough money, it's risk worth taking. But these rumors of 60m asking prices start to sound not too fascinating now at the end of the season.

Are people seriously suggesting we sell an emerging world class keeper for an over-the-hill center back who just flopped massively?
And a striker that's been relatively useless for 2 years now, one of which at our club, missing the easiest chance in CL finals history.

What's not to like?

If we are smart, we'll find a way to sell him for 60-70 mln, or get the equivalent in players, or money + players. Milan want 90 mln for Maigan, which is huge. Even with 80, they can reinvest those money to strengthen their squad. If we ship Onana to Chelsea off, we'll close that door for Milan, and cripple a bit their mercato.

Emerging? He was emerging world class when he was at Ajax. He's emerging as one of the best of this generation now. Having either world class shot stopping or world class distribution makes a GK world class, but having both is something entirely different.

Don’t forget him playing superlibero too. He makes me laugh out loud in shock at least once a game when he’s halfway to the centre circle and pulls it off.

Goalkeeper is maybe most important position in team. Better to sell 2 players for 60M, than Onana. Because, players is easier to replace than goalkeeper.

Like I said if we sell Onana forget about scudetto for a long time. And I dont wanna to start thinking about swapping him for Cringe of Milano. Our biggest problem is Stevie Zhang and Suning. This club is on suicide mode as long as they run it. And it will be the slowest suicide ever.

Your question is irrelevant to the quoted post.
you guys said its hard to replace, yet we managed to replace Toldo, JC and Handanovic, all 3 who are way better than Onana.

You guys are prisoner of the moment, same how we were post CHL win in 2010. There a few core players of thsi team that are much harder to replace:

1. Bastoni
2. Barella
3. Lautaro
4. Brozovic
