I don't think so. Rano as far as I remember has always struggled against top opposition. He's good, but not especially great in any way.

My favourite gimmick was the Kool-Aid guy, I'd have to say his post in the Cassano thread when the Strama-Cassano explosion happened was the greatest post I've seen on this site (obviously not including my own posts cause those are always gold).

As for Rano, if he plays well, he deserves a good contract (especially if he's stepping up in the capitano pecking order). If not, he's still in reasonably high demand, he can be sold. I get the feeling he'll do well though, I thought he had a positive season overall last time around and this time we've got a coach who pays more attention to defensive tactics.

lol, in what way is he a beast exactly? Some people are living in lalaland when it comes to Ranocchia. Campagnaro is the one who is clearly making the difference. Rano has been good, but come on. There is nothing exceptional about him whatsoever. All this talk about him being our future captain annoys me too.

seriously, he has been really good this year. His knock always has been his lack of speed and the 1-2 boneheaded plays he made every game. Other than that, noone denies his talent.

So far, and i stress SO FAR, he has been great. The only reason people herald campagnaro more is because he is more active in attack since he isn't the center df in the 3 back system. Not to take anything away from camp, he has been amazing in defense and attack but i think rano deserves some credit.

Hoepfully, he keeps it up but i'm just projecting that he will cut out those bone-headed plays 1-2 time a game and will become the complete defender he is supposed to be. So far so good. Again, very early in the season

rano is not a beast, not yet, he played decently at the back, but not beast, he only do what others good defender did, nothing special, not yet


if he can perform consistently well from season to season, bossing the defense, owning opponent player then you can call him beast

The thing is, from what i've seen (again, so far...very early), he has been stand-out bossing. He is in all the right places, makes great tackles, wins everything in the air and hasn't really been at fault or exposed on many plays/goals. To me, that is a beast defender.

He isn't going to be helping in the attack but his touch on the ball and with the ball at his feet is superb (other than that one pass to mazzarri and some long balls, but that is an issue for the entire team).

On the defensive end, there is little that you can do (dribble around people, have a sick shot on goal, score a great goal) that would make the highlights. Still, he has been great. Early days, hopefully it continues. i think it will

i'm going to quote you on this. You have a deal. If he plays really well against juve and we win, i want to see that rano avatar. If we lose and he doesn't look good, i concede he isn't a beast.
