Why not? Cheap Italian NT player that also played in the UCL he's just 1 year older than Motta but a lot stronger & healthier record. Or would you perhaps prefer to prolongue Motta's contract in 2013 [when he will be 30, too]?

Poli and Palombo linking back up together again. Sadly we have missed Palombos best years, he peaked two years ago, but still a knowledgeable strong, very strong player in the middle.

Under Del Neri, both players were good enough to get Sampa to 4th. After Del Neri left, and Di Carlo came in and preferred Tissone to Poli, they got relegated. All we need to do is sign Cassano and its a Genova family again with Pazzini.

His salary BETTER BE less than 1.5mil (I doubt but we'll see). Cause the rumor is 2.5mil/4 years at PSG for Motta. Which means, we could've easily matched that by giving 2.5mil/3 years.

Interesting to see if we whored ourselves for 10mil.

Of course I would be comfortable with that.

As I said in another thread. People need to abandon this idea about salaries. Our problems are not because of high salaries in general. Our problem is paying high salaries and getting little/no return. You cannot avoid paying for quality. The notion that you can get quality for cheap is patently false. It is like the old saying "you get what you pay for". If a player is truly quality, you may be able to escape paying them high salaries for a year or two at most. Eventually, YOU MUST PAY.

2.5 mil is nothing. For a quality midfielder? 2.5mil until 33? Nothing. 2.5mil is what we're paying jonathan and mariga combined, 2 players that have CONTRIBUTE ZERO, which basically means money down the toilet. Motta could be injured in 50% of the games and his contribution in the other 50% will still be greater than most of our midfielders.

If we're going to bitch about 2.5mil, then it's best we just accept we're going to be competing at lazio/udinese level.


Palombo is a good midfielder. Certainly not at motta's level though.
