We certainly knew how to defend last season. Conte just needs to stop being a stubborn fuck with that whole “I want a ball playing CD” bullshit. Kolarov is a nightmare defensively. Dumbo isn’t much better. Neither should be starting anywhere near a club that’s trying to compete for the scudetto. It isn’t worth the trade off of them possibly adding something to the attack when they suck at defending. Skriniar - De Vrij - Bastoni. Roll with it and pray that Skriniar can adapt better this season to that wide role.

Agreed. Without Godin there's not even a respectable bench option for the wide CB's. Barring injuries and rotation only when absolutely necessary, I want to see a starting trio of Skriniar de Vrij Bastoni for the next 30 fucking games in a row.

I kind expected such a start of the season. Just look juventus and Atalanta, which also had a deep run in Europe and their form is not so bright as well. As long as COnte does not loose the players, i'm not worried as the team will overcome this poor shape for sure.

About Godin. i've read an interview of him, where he said that he had a conversation with Conte, where the latter said his opinion and then Godin said that he wants to leave.
I don't know what COnte told him. It's most probably that Godin will be rotation player or something like. I don't believe that he told him "You are shit and i want you out" or something similar to provoke a such a reaction as desire to leave the team.

Defensively we were great last season. But right now, it feels like there are too many components/variables that are not working. The way we are playing lacks order and structure and the number of self-inflicted errors that lead to goals is absolutely demoralising.

The amount of times I have read that a penalty should have been given or a push should have been called that may have assisted us to obtain a result is mind boggling. We have become so pathetic that we are relying on the referees and VAR to finish games that our players cannot kill off. And the only thing more questionable than that is Conte coming out after every match and confirming we are supposedly on the right track. How many more times are we going to hear that shit when the evidence points to us being anything but "on track".

This squad is horribly unbalanced. We got rid of players we should of kept and kept those that should have been allowed to leave. And all we have left are pieces to a jigsaw puzzle, none of which fit or know how to work together (in terms of playing personnel).

If he is referring to being on track for a 4th place finish then I would agree.

We were great for the first half of the season.

Once January hit and we played teams for the second time around it was clear we had been figured out, we were pretty bad and started dropping points. Then we got lucky that covid hit.

This is merely a continuance of that.

And our defense wasnt great last season either. The opposition missed chances that are going in now and Handa pulled some super saves [but more of the former than the latter].Every game since January 2020 we have looked like conceding and have been sliced open regularly. We hardly kept clean sheets even last season and conceded a goal every game anyway till the last 4-5 games of the season when the pressure was no longer on us as we had booked a top 4 spot and then we won those and suddenly some came up with "we missed the Scudetto by 1 point".Nothing could be farther from the truth really.

The opposition we have played so far including Real aren't even all that good to begin with and yet we have consistently lost games that mattered.I am very worried.

Nandez convinced Godin to join Cagliari.

Because he wasn't in our coach's plans... You don't leave Inter for Cagliari just because a kid tells you to come over.

There's also this article from Fabrizio Romano where he reports Conte informed Godin he won't be a part of his plans in the following season.

What if it is the only formation he is confortable with? He doesn't have the courage to drop a dying rcb and you want him to change the only formation that he thinks distinguishes him from the rest. Convincing a mountain to do something is a much easier task than convincing a 50 year old Italian coach.

I firmly believe that it's not even a fixation anymore. Now it's just a matter of ego, too much pride to admit that you are wrong. So you continue to drive into the abyss.

In one year and a half you noted this about Conte. Marotta has known him for many years and yet he never considered this a problem. And Marotta is highly praised here as a Juve builder. If this is this work of a builder, then what did he leave for a demolisher?

Personally I don't understand everyone clamoring for Godin. He was atrocious in the EL Final aside from that goal and he hasn't exactly looked good at Cagliari either. He was making way too much money for that level of output.

We do miss the locker-room presence, which is hard to calculate. The main issue is not signing a suitable replacement-- Smalling, Maksimovic, Milenkovic, Kumbulla were all solid choices.

Those guys would involve adding money that we don't have.

Fair point, we could have maybe worked out some sort of long term deal ala Chiesa to Juve however. I just think we didn't prioritize it enough. We thought we'd trot out Kolarov and D'Ambrosio on a regular basis and everything would be fine
