Why the fuck would he leave us for Tottenham! They’re a fucking riot and he won’t get the budget nor will he get the players as they’ll try to be stingy and will get shut down…again!!

Conte didn't leave us for Tottenham. Conte left Inter coz Suning changed the project and wanted to downsize. I don't think anyone can blame him for leaving. At this stage of his career, he wants to be part of ambitious projects who want to improve, not ones who want to downsize. Tottenham had nothing to do with his leaving Inter.

Why he agreed to join Tottenham, we can only guess. I suspect he has been promised budgets to build an ambitious project, just like he was when he joined Inter. I also guess its something to do with lack of better alternatives, after he realised that Man Utd aren't sacking Ole anytime soon. Between Tottenham & Newcastle, I am not surprised he choose Spurs.

While I get the feeling that Conte is maturing as a manager, he is not as volatile, this will probably be tested at Spurs. The problem for Conte is that to get the really top jobs, he needs to prove that he has matured and is more stable ie put his rage-quits of Juve & Chelsea behind him. Which means he cannot do a rage quit at Spurs, he needs to stay there until a top club poaches him. That will be a tough ask, coz whatever budgets Levy has promised him is not worth the cost of the paper it is written on - Levy is a miserable bastard and he will revert to type. This is going to be a good test of Conte's sanity, apart from his coaching skills to uplift those dejected, demoralised players at Spurs.

Not as volatile? Are you talking about that coach who threatened to quit right after we beat Atalanta to the 2nd place and had just signed him Hakimi? What are you smoking Bluenine?

Spurs have been the team with the least amount of ground covered so far this year. That’s about to change.

Let's see how Ndombele and Lo Celso's fitness hold up.

Why he agreed to join Tottenham is Levy was forced to promise him the whole kingdom. I can guess Tottenham will go on a spending spree in January and in the summer. No expectations to deliver anything this season, next season probably top4 is the target but I can guess he can still get the extension (option activated) even if he doesn't reach it. Depending on the state of Conte's and Levy's relationship in the summer of 2023.

Also his explosion after the Dortmund match when he complained he didn't have the players to compete in CL despite the club spending over 150m in the previous transfer window. And that was long before the financial problems.

Things were relatively quiet last season only because there was an agreement in Villa Bellini from all sides for one-year truce after Suning informing them there's no money.

How is Tottenham a bigger club than Inter i dont understand? If anything this is looking like sort of a desperate move from Conte. And he will be blamed for Tottenhams failures now just like Allegri is taking shit at Juve. Maybe he could have waited for Man United but his lack of success in Europe would have ticked off Manu. They wouldnt have chosen him at all.

Sitting at home for long isnt a wise decision at all. Look at Allegri now. He is looking all outdated. None of the Big clubs except PSG,Man City have unlimited budgets. Sometimes working with small budget is also a art. Conte really should have waited for one more year. But now, Inzhagi is doing decently well at Inter. So he is a memory now.

Completely agree with your post except this. Why shouldn't we blame him for leaving? He quitted his job and took the money. If he had told Inter they could keep the money I had little more respect for him. Quitting just because you can't spend the money you want and you don't trust yourself in developing players you should get the blame.

Inter paid him not to coach in Italy for a season, which he never planned to do so anyway

He's not working in Juventus under Agnelli again and there is not a single other club here to meet his financial and personnel demands.

Good news for Tottenham sporting-wise. An obvious upgrade over the dude who got sacked.

However, unlike the chicken and the egg dilemma as to which will come first, a Conte implosion is way more likely to come first before Tottenham winning any silverware.

Still don’t think you guys fully understand why he left. The basis of a relationship is based on trust, if promises are made they have to be kept.

In the first season Dzeko was a specific request of Conte’s….looking back now I’m certain we would have won the league that 1st year as well had we got him.

Following season Tonali deal was ready…Suning pulled the plug. We ended up filling the squad with Vidal, Darmian and Kolarov. Now people will deem these were Conte’s requests but what would you guys’ requests have been with a 5 million budget?

Fast forward to January Conte specifically made a request to get De Paul for the following season. Marotta agreed to the deal, Suning pulled the plug. Looking back now once again Conte was right he was the missing piece. Then season ends, we’re champions Suning say don’t expect reinforcements and oh Hakimi will be sold. Back to square one.

Promises that were made got broken which then becomes a matter of principle. I do think even he regrets leaving us but if he stayed it would have meant Suning can do whatever and get away with it

"Not as volatile" obviously is a relative term as compared to the Conte of before, not as compared to a normal person. You do remember the Conte of Chelsea, and how he left? Compared to that, Inter's Conte was like a Tibetan monk. :yao: Clearly last year Suning could not live up to the promises they made to Conte, which resulted in the flare up. But what is also obvious here is that Conte did settle for a compromise, something he wasn't inclined to do in the past. Thats an example of a bit more maturety that I am talking about.

Also, I obviously take a different view of Conte's threat to quit last year than most people here who wanted him sacked. I believe having a top coach who holds the management/ownership accountable for their promises does come with its benefits too. I wouldn't be surprised if Conte public quit threat last year delayed the selling off of our assets (that we did this summer) and hence helped us win a Scudetto.

I have been an Inter fan for over 35 years now. I have only seen Inter win the scudetto with a coach who has a big personality who can stand up to the management/ownership. Trap, Mancio, Mou and Conte - they were all big personalities. I have never seen Inter win with a yes man who doesn't have the gravitas to influence club policy.

Not so sure about that. If buying an out-of-form, out-of-shape and low on confidence Lukaku for 75m upon your request isn't a sign of trust, then I don't know what is. I mean Suning were spending generously until the pandemic started. Now I don't know whether our new financial limitations are caused by the lockdowns, some Chinese policy or a mix of both, but Conte wasn't living under a rock during the past 2 years or so - he should be smart enough to figure out that whatever promises were agreed upon were made under very different circumstances. Trust and respect go both ways - there wasn't any nefarious ploy to trick Conte into joining and then to purposely fail to meet his demands. The circumstances changed, he should have understood that - throwing a public temper tantrum isn't a sign of a big personality.

I have no hard feelings towards Conte for leaving since he obviously didnt have the promised financial means anymore. But I also don't hold much grudge towards Suning for things they weren't much in control of.

Daily Telegraph: Although money will be made available in January, Conte is not expected to be given fortunes to spend and #thfc may need to raise cash through sales to chase some of his targets.

This will go well.
