They came second in 2009. And no one is arguing that he's crap. But you cannot use his Juventus years as an example of success. It's tainted and there should be no merit in anything he's done with them. Unless you can seriously come up with a solid and football based reasoning as to why Marrotta is a director we should go for, there's nothing really concrete here to change anyone's mind as to why he'd be a good deal of business for Inter.

Once more, I'll say that if we want a vice-Sabatini, Pierpaolo Marino is our guy. And I'll say this once more, Marrotta can fuck off.

Lippi proved that we shouldn’t hire Juventino,

Carini-Canavaro swamp proved that we’re idiots and made us laughing stock

Mauricio Isla proved that they hate us and that they are ready for anything to stop our growth

Vucinic - Guarin swamp attempt proved that we’re still idiots and that we need ultras to stop us from embarrassment

Now ...

Selling Hernanes, refusing Icardi - Higuain talks, luring grateful player like Asamoah proving that we’re on the right track.

Will hiring Marotta lift us on another level like signing Ibra from them or it will be Lippi’s effect?

Tough call

.- It is always powerful when people start using moral language. That I understand. The general consensus is that Juve was born as a cheater and remains a cheater for the rest of its life. This assumption is then contrasted with a pure Inter and then well, only bad things can happen if a person with Juve past is hired.

- Analytically, this is one of the biggest logical issues. We assume that Juve is a 'thing' within which everyone somehow has to be dirty. Secondly, Juve is like a unitary cheating program. They automatically cheat every time, every day, every season. This is a very old fashion purview about organization culture. (To be clear, one has to differentiate between changing facts and social stigmatization).

- A man has his rational choice and while working in a certain environment, he configures the best way to achieve his goal ('best' in his own term) and this does not tell anything about he himself becoming a 'bad person'. It certainly can be said that this man simply utilizes the 'resources' that the organization has.

- I am not denying the possibility of having a 'contaminated mind', but I can't accept at the same time a singular teleological linear argumentation without considering enabling contexts. Marotta can be understood as a rational autonomous and professional football manager who knows 'the way around' and knows how to best utilize the 'resources' that different clubs can offer. At Inter, he will combine his knowledge and 'resources' in a different way.

- On another issue, based on the singular logic, now we could ignore the category of former 'Juventus players' (Ibra, Asamoah, Viera... and Roberto Baggio) because somehow players are not dirty. Managers are. For me, it's becoming an idealistic argument. Inter is like the City of God where everyone is good and nice, all of the past problems with Juve's former persons are less of Inter weak managing capability but 'Juve thingy'. We had bad management experience all the time and if we purposively pull out some exp just to clarify 'Juve logic' then the whole logic will be falsified and crumbled.

- To conclude, when we leave some open possibilities, we can start seeing things more objectively and then we can think more about 'what makes a better Inter'. Do you want to die as an old man full of regrets (Pirlo, Coutinho, Seedorf) or you want to take a leap of faith?

People probably think of Juventus as just another Bayern, Man Utd, Real Madrid/Barcelona who just happened to circumstancially dominate the football of a country.

People need history lessons. Provided time, I will make a dedicated thread on Calcio, some important parts of its history and how Italian football works, based on empirical evidence.

Can't believe that I said that this needs to be done in an Inter forum. Seems like only a fraction here have the comprehension of what goes on in Italian football and how the system works. Hopefully Suning is not part of this crew.

Jose Mourinho: Manchester United step up plans for radical restructuring with Portuguese's future in doubt

United have spoken to former Juventus CEO Giuseppe Marotta and the club’s current sporting director Fabio Paratici as they plan to introduce a more continental model at Old Trafford

Manchester United have spoken to former Juventus CEO Giuseppe Marotta and had contact with the club’s current sporting director Fabio Paratici, as the Old Trafford hierarchy proceed with plans to remodel their football structure, amid the growing uncertainty over Jose Mourinho’s job.

The feeling now is that the nature of the 3-2 comeback against Newcastle United has bought the Portuguese time, but executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward had already long become emboldened by plans to introduce a more modern continental model that didn’t place such prominence and importance on a single manager at the top.

Along those lines, United have been interested in putting in place a full technical staff, as opposed to just a director of football.
Paratici was a figure they were looking at very early for his successful work in the transfer market, only for Marotta to also become a possibility. The latter has just left Juventus, with a lot of questions about why, especially given he was credited with a huge role in restructuring the Italian champions over the last decade so they are now an example for modern clubs.

Attempting to bring the two as a package would actually appeal to United, with some sources - somewhat ironically - mentioning how it could be similar to how neighbours Manchester City effectively imported the Barcelona technical structure in the last few years.

Italian sources however say that could still be difficult to pull off. Paratici has recently renewed his deal with Juventus, and is minded to stay loyal to a successful project he has played a key part in building.

Out of work, Marotta is a greater possibility, but United would have a lot of competition and it is said the 61-year-old would greatly want to improve his English if he were to take such a job. That means something in Italy is likelier, but United feel they can put together a persuasive package.

Former Inter owner: 'I would appreciate Marotta at Inter'

Former Inter Milan owner Massimo Moratti believes that he would like to have Beppe Marotta at the nerazzurri helm.

Marotta shocked the world recently by announcing his exit from Juventus, following the club's 3-1 win over Napoli some weeks ago. Reports have linked him with a move to Napoli, but Marotta has been in talks with Inter over the past week or so.

Moratti was recently talking to RMC about how it would be if Marotta joined Inter and he revealed that he would like to see him at the nerazzurri helm.

Moratti said: "Marotta at Inter? I do not decide, but I very much admire Marotta. He was good before and after the experience at Juve. He is a well-balanced person who knows how to do his job well.

"I would really appreciate him at Inter " .

Moratti also had his say on Jose Mourinho's recent times at Manchester United. He said: "Mourinho always has quality and a strong character. Certainly, football sometimes betrays you, but against Newcastle I saw a test of the team's character that can be a restart."

When even Moratti suggests that Marotta will be good at Inter... I just can't comprehend this.

I gave it a few days to think about this opportunity. I`m an opportunist.

First of all, I would love to know what was the REAL deal breaker between Agnelli and Marotta - what happened that prompted this divorce? Some of our italian members could perhaps clarify this. Something related to Dybala being sold? CR7 signed? I read that a lot of top clubs wanted to sign Paratici, so maybe juBe decided to back-stab Marotta in order to promote him. And if this is the real reason, Marotta has every reason to join us and prove them wrong.

In the first few days I was paranoid about Marotta being deployed as the ultimate spy/trojan horse so juBe could continue their domination. But I think this is too much, people would read you and your intentions at some point, so they will probably just stick to refs and ref designators... Moratti backing the move should be reassuring for us.

Il Drago is right. No way would Marotta replace Ausilio. He would work above him as Sabatini did, and how Marotta did with Paratici at Juve. Ausilio would continue to handle negotiations and player scouting while Moratta would approve his purchases and sales while keeping an eye on the business side of things, managing the relationship between Inter and Suning.

The judgement to make is, given Ausilio had an extremely good summer without anyone between him and Suning, would we rather continue with him as #fullfreedom. You have to factor in the fact that the Marotta-Paratici combo was such a productive one that led Juve to being where they are today.

It's tricky, but I think if we have real ambition to return to the top, we should take the risk and do it, and go back to Ausilio going solo if it doesn't work out.
+1. In management you have to leave sentiments aside and be logical, analitical. If he`s a great manager, we should be after him - because the last thing you want is to splash Suning money on another Joao Mario/Barbosa. Sure Ausilio uppped his game and I`m happy about that, but I doubt Marotta would replace him. If anything, Ausilio would have the chance to learn stuff from him, just like he hopefully did learn from Sabatini.

From a moral point of view, it`s a bit more sensitive. We have a saying in Romania [do you also have something similar?]: "the fish is starting to rot from its head", meaning that the one who`s at the very top of the hierarchy is dictating the means. I would assume at juBentus the Agnelli family is the dark side, but my knowledge is limited in this sense. Those history briefs brehme mentioned above would be lovely to have.

At this point, especially with Sabatini out, I would take Marotta. I believe this is what is going to happen, weather we like it or not. Football has become more of a business and if you were Zhang, you would take the highest possible professional to decide on budget spending. I mean we had scumbags like Fassone here and fans did not quit. If Zhang has a good soul, it`s all up to him. But since his son Steven is directly involved, I think we finally have the bright future we`ve been all waiting for years.

Latest report: Today's edition of Repubblica reports updates and some rumors about the future of the former Sampdoria : "There are those who say that he has already signed and that will be operative from the January market, in any case the track is very hot. We are getting ready to think big, we are getting ready for rebirth " , writes the Milanese newspaper.

I still fail to see what he would bring to the club if I am honest. Things are starting to turn good at Inter under our current regime. We're coming out from under the thumb of FFP in a matter of months, Inter as a business is improving as our loss was down to 18 million last year. On the transfer front, Ausilio has made big improvements in his work and did a great job working under bullshit restrictions, giving Spallo a strong squad to work with and so far we're looking good getting results with that in spite of injuries.

So I just don't see what he does if he does join us.

You probably realize the difference between Sabatini-stic-Inter and Non-Sabatini-istic-Inter :D

In an organization, you can not isolate everything into individual decision making. Arguing Sabatini buys this and Aids buys that is such kind of argument. It is like they never talk to each other or never influence each other (thinking and methods, knowledge transfer, etc).

We are in the right track because at some critical junctures during Sunning era, we had critical expertise. We stop bringing in more Barbosa, JM and we stop giving away good assets for cheap (most recently Banega). In that context of 'evolution', you need someone to not just keep everything 'normal' (finishing 3rd or 4th, gain some profit), you need a man of high profile who can nurture 'ambition'. A force that can introduce us to a bigger stage that we are having in mind but none would dare to say it out loud. (Scudetto).

Marotta is person who can do things with money. He is the one capable of pulling SMS out of Lazio with less than 50m. He knows deep institutions manufacturing this market. This is the leap of faith. Simple as such. We cant see what he could bring to us because we hit really low since 2011 and we easily 'consent' to just being 'less shit'.

I have nothing to say about 'moral quality' of Marotta since I dont think there is anything call 'human nature' of good or bad. We are just 'good' for someone and 'bad' for some purpose. Context is everything.

According to Stefano Agresti, director of Calciomercato, Marotta to Inter is basically done. Barring any surprises from either side, Marotta will start working for Inter in January. There are also reports from both CdS and Tuttosport Marotta is close to Inter.

I'm sure Moratti knows about Italian football and its history more than you and I, yet he thinks hiring Marotta is good for Inter. Now explain that! And please no ridiculous explainations like "He just says that in public but deep down he doesn't want Marotta" since we can't know that for sure.

The only thing that we know is his words and he seems to be in favor of Marotta.

If you expect marotta to sign SMS for under 50 mil you're in for a disappointing few years. That much I can guarantee you.

Juventus general manager Giuseppe Marotta is close to joining Inter, according to multiple sources.

The 61-year-old was also CEO, but is being removed from the Bianconeri board and will leave that position on Thursday.

While he is still under contract as general manager, it’s assumed that his contract will be mutually terminated and Marotta will be allowed to move on.

According to this morning’s Corriere dello Sport his next stop is likely to be Inter, where he’ll take up a similar role.

That is backed up by calciomercato.com, with the website reporting that there has been constant contact with Nerazzurri owners Suning in recent weeks.

An agreement has more or less been reached, and Marotta is expected to take up his new role in January.

» Told ya, it`s happening. We were lucky to have Sabatini, now let`s move to the next level. Future is bright :datass:
