Yeah he has to play instead of vecino, I don't know if conte is saving barella for the kind of impact he did tonight, but I don't think we have luxury to have him on the bench.

I'm not gonna nitpick on the bad moments because I missed the first half, so in a random order of things that I liked seeing tonight:

Lukaku losing the ball couple of times on the first touch only to track back and regain it in the midfield. Ice cold penalty execution, it's early to tell but the atmosphere was quite nasty despite Cagliari being a small club with a small stadium and that was some Maurito tier cold mentality from Lukaku, so at least in terms of PKs were are still golden if he can sustain it.
Sensi and Asamoah were 10/10, latter being somewhat in shadow over Sensi's spotlight, Asa has some quick feet that weren't properly showcased last year.
Skriniar growing into his new role and cleverly going down on fouls. I definitely prefer his impressionable rock solid approach and not going down unless necessary but this win required us to get a bit dirty metaphorically speaking and it's nice to see that our boy can adapt on the fly.
Politano can be a serviceable striker despite his poor luck in those 1on1 chances on the counters, I have faith in him, can't explain it other than just a gut feeling.
Ranocchia pretty okay on his second game in a row.

Lautaro. This might be an unpopular opinion, but I've never really rated this kid that highly. Sure, he is a good decent young player but obviously he isn't ready to be a starter yet. He is a workhorse, I'll give him that. But boy, is he one sloppy motherfucker? Dude tries way too hard, he always looks fucking tensed up. He needs to calm the fuck down a bit. Those silly ass flicks are painful to watch. His movements & decisions are too rushed, he needs to fucking relax. Hopefully we get the Arsenal Sanchez, so Lautaro can learn a thing or two from him.

only a few thoughts:

I remember very clearly the last game in Cagliari when we lost 2-1. Even if this game was below our expectations, that game was dreadful. Classical game under Spaletti when a small team dominated the midfield. This night with all the struggle, we controlled the tempo, especially after Vecino was subbed off.

Lukaku must take a portion of shit for his performance, but he made at least 2 quality opportunities. The one for Sensi with the penalty and another one for Politano. Probably is one of the things Conte expect from him and hopefully we will see more in the future.

Asamoah was excellent today. He is more suited as wingback than a LB. Don't forget he was a midfield at the beginning of his career!

IMO Referees/FIGC should stop matches like these and give the points to the team whose player received the chants, that way fans will think twice before committing such a shitty behavior.
