Last thursday 12th was seen the draw for the 2014 Copa Libertadores.

More info in Spanish: http://www.infobae.com/2013/12/12/1530545-se-sortearon-los-grupos-la-copa-libertadores-2014

More info in English: http://soccerush.hol.es/2013/12/2014-copa-libertadores-the-draw-1/

This is how the draw panned out for the play-off's:

20131213-635225027208532447w.jpg

- ARGENTINA 5 will be Lanús, the Copa Sudamericana champions.
- CHILE 3 will be Universidad de Chile, winner of the "Liguilla Pre-Libertadores 2013"

This is how the draw panned out for the second round:

copa-libertadores-2014.jpg

- BOLIVIA 2 will be "The Strongest", 2013 Apertura champions.
- PERU 1 will be Universitario de Deportes, the 2013 Descentralizado champions.
- PERU 2 will be Real Garcilaso, the 2013 Descentralizado runner-up.
- ARGENTINA 3 will be San Lorenzo, the 2013 Torneo Final champions.

The tournament will start on January 28 and will end after the World Cup in Brazil. Here is a detailed schedule of all the play-off and group stage matches:
http://www.conmebol.com/en/content/bridgestone-libertadores-tournament-will-start-january-28

Personally, I think that if Lanus can keep their team, they can battle for the title. Also, San Lorenzo has a very good team, an famous millionare vice-president, a pope (Francis) in the Church, and they are hungry for their first Libertadores (here in Argentina a lot of fans make fun of them because they never won a Libertadores. Even Argentinos's fans do it, because they won a Libertadores in 1985).
I just could not stand for another Brazilian victory, I would prefer a Mexican team to win it (although we all know it will never happen :trollol: )

Last minute penalty for Atletico Paranaense to force penalties, they convert that and win on penalties after being down 2 in first round of pens. Crazy game. There may not be high quality football but there is always drama.

I will just mention things on the Colombian teams as I actually watch the league. Don't follow the other leagues other than River Plate of Argentina.

Group 6 is going to be crazy !!! Real tough group with them, Gremio and Newells. Hope Nacional make it out of group stage they have the most exciting team to watch from Colombia and the one with the best chance of winning the trophy.
Atletico Nacional of Colombia is FING Nasty. There coach is Osorio who many want to be the next Colombian NT coach. He use to coach in the MLS(Chicago and NYRBs). His teams are awesome at attacking but shit defending. Nacional is the richest team in Colombia. Their owners are our league sponsors and they buy everyone who is remotely good. If you do well in Nacional and you are young then a euro team will come get you. Many of our SNT played for them before going to europe. Zuniga and Quintero were Nacional players before they went to Italy.

Players in Nacional to watch. Sebastian Perez(DM was part of our U20 and was almost bought by Arsenal of england but couldn't get a Work visa, Edwin Cardona (also a member of our U20 11 tho he got kicked off the team for being a dick. He is a better/taller version of Quintero, has amazing free kicks), Medina (RM/RB/CB also part of our U20 from 11 tho our retarded coach at the time didn't bring him to the WC, he is currently on our SNT), Valencia (LB awesome free kicks)

Group 3 has Deportivo Cali who are coached by Colombian legend Leonel Alvarez who won Colombias 1st Copa Lib with Nacional. His team is very good came up runner up last season but is basically a Udinese in Colombia. Udinese loves this team and buys their players all the time. It's where Cristian Zapata, Luis Muriel, Bryan Perea (striker that playing for Lazio now). Their current team has Colombian legend Faryd Mondragon who use to be Galastarays goalie back in the day. Dude is 42 and retiring after the WC.

Players to watch and are being scouted by Italian teams is Gustavo Cuellar (DM very young), Lizarazo (AMF also very young), Robin Rameriez(good striker from Paraguay that has been called up to their SNT).Dept Cali doesn't have too much money and usually promotes a bunch of youth players so I wouldn't be surprised if many other guys pop out of no where. Very strong group that all the teams have a good shot. Think Lanus and Dept Cali will be in 2nd round

Group 4
Santa Fe is the 3rd Colombian team and lost in the Semi finals of the 2013 edition. They have our 3rd string NT goalie who is very promising and is probably moving abroad after the WC. The issue with them is they play with a classic South American #10. He is a very good player with an awesome free kick but if he doesn't show up or if a team is able to stop him they don't have much else. They have real fast strikers but have shit finishing. They lost their Captain who is a CB on the SNT and their defense is now leaky as fuck. They should go to the 2nd round with Minero of Brazil if they are able to get past Nacional of Paraguay.

I hate that Cardona fatass bitch. Amazing player, but I haven't seen a dickhead like him in a football pitch. Balotelli is a noob, compared to him.

Cardona is super legit and think he has more potential than Quintero. Dude still getting hated on for shit that happened in the u20 In 2011.

Our coach left him off the roster and talked shit about him because he asked to go see his daughter being born. Dudes not fat FYI either. Kid has a huge upside and just needed the right coach.

He's fat, dickhead, plays when he wants, has no discipline whatsoever... He'll never reach his potential unless he changes his piece of shit attitude. Dude thinks he's god, and has won nothing.

Good week for Colombian teams :) All 3 got wins

Cardona just gave you and Banega(Newells his new team) a BIG F U !!!! Hahaha. Nacional beat Newels Old Boys in a boring game where the Argies came to try to tie Nacional. Its between Nacional(Colombia) and Newells who will qualify with Gremio. Nacional of Uruguay def seems like the weakest of the 4. Wasn't impressed with Banega at all this game. Nacional is good but they are a regulation Italian team at best.

Great goal from him today but he had a Guarin like performance. Aka shoot at goal every time you get the ball. Kid need to learn to be a team player. He is a lot better in league play. Think because this is the Libertadores he thinks scouts are watching and wants to do crazy shit but dude just needs to score. All goals are beautiful as long as they are scored by your team

Argentina is feeling the effects of selling all their prospects when they are 16. They really need River and Boca to be top teams again. Sadly with the rise of the Mexican league and many of the top South Americans that would go to those teams just go directly to Europe now.

Before top Colombians would go to River and Boca. Now teams go directly and scout our U20s and club teams to be able to get guys cheaper. The step to go to Argentina is no longer needed for us, Uruguayans , Chileans, etc.

I've never said Cardona is a bad player, but I stand my opinion: he's a bitch and will never reach his potential.

Can't believe there's people asking him to be in the WC squad LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL.

With Newell's losing against Atlético Nacional de Medellín, this is how the Libertadores will continue:

ARGENTINA COLOMBIA ES TU PAPA !!!

Seriously the Argies went to break legs this game. After the 3rd goal all those slide tackles became brutal. The ref F'd up the game by red carded the two players in the 1st 5 minutes. Should have given them both yellow cards but then again you shouldn't be slapping people. Newells goalie & back 4 were FING AWFUL. Should have been 6-1 at least.

Again Banega not impressive at all. If we pay 12 million euro for this guy my mind is going to be blown.

Banega just had an impressive game the first match, against Boca. Then, I have never heard of any good matches of him. I just hope he is waiting for the WC... Newell's had lost the derby against Rosario Central last Sunday. They are very hurt emotionally, and now their coach resigned.
Now Atlético Nacional has a difficult game against the defending champions. Who also will have Anelka playing for them. I will definitely watch that match

Velez vs Union
Atletico Nacional vs Defensor
San Lorenzo vs Cruziero
Santos Laguna vs Leon

Semis

FU Minero and Dinho !!! Colombia TU PAPA !!!

Most shocked about Bolivian team knocking out a Mexican team and making it to the 3rd round. A 2nd Bolivian team looks like it can get to the 3rd round as well.

Nice goal BTW! IMO, if Raja Casablanca could defeat them, why wouldn't Atlético Nacional? Finally, Anelka is not even in the team! Puro humo ^^
The Strogest will probably knock out Defensor Sporting, they aren't a strong team. But I can predict that both Bolivian teams won't make it futher than quarter finals. And I don't know what the hell is happening with Brazilian teams, two of them lost their matches... If no Brazilian teams advance to quarter-finals, it would be historical... Also, Mexican teams suck, they should not play the Libertadores anymore! Go play your fucking Concacaf Champions League, muertos!

Arsenal has just tied 0-0, but I would like them to advance, just because Martín Palermo now is the coach ^^

I obviously want Atletico Nacional to lift the title for the 2nd time and start a real good start for a Colombian Summer :)

Tho can't help but want to the Bolivian teams to keep shocking everyone. Def don't like Brazilian teams but am happy the Mexicans got sent back to where they came.

I hate how all the South American tourneys are done. Don't Argentina and Brazil get like 5-6 spots to this cup while the other teams get 2.5 !!!

Copa Sudamericana is even worse 7 from Argentina, 8 from brazil, 4 from the others !!! They don't even make legit rules on how to qualify.

Too many big teams who don't even take the Sudamericana seriously are let in. Its such a joke cup
