No... he must retire here.

Funny how I joined this forum to bash on him and now I’ll be devastated if he left for merda

He barely plays this season yet he has 3 goals. I dont think he would want to join them

Would honestly suck to see him go, but his playing time has massively reduced since Darmian's arrival.

It's not like he would play much more at Milan. He would be Calabria backup. I don't think D'Ambrosio wants to leave. In the end he will probably stay. His agent is using Milan to make Inter offer a two-year contract. That's his issue.

Still in a better position than being the Hakimi/Skriniar/Darmian back-up IMO. But yeah, he's probably just angling for a better contract. We'll probs offer a 1+1 type thing.

I think it will might be a mistake to offer him two years. Like said, he's gonna be backup for CB and WB positions. In WB, behind two guys and in CB, probably behind a new CB we gonna sign.

If he accepts reduced salary, I can give the 1+1. He's 33 next September after all and getting quite slow. Maybe he can act purely as an utility "defender", ie. used in matches where we need to either furiously defend and he's just a filler there, more meat to our box. Or we need to furiously score and he's the extra man in the box.

Very bad timing to use milan as a leverage for a new contract - poor form (if true).

Inb4 he sacks his agent and handles the renewal himself.

We should let the tank leave if he wants. He is more of a burden now than a help.

He isn't an option for WB any more. Our attacking threat there goes to zero with him. He is an option for RCB and LCB in my view.

I don't think that Milan can offer him more playing time. I mean, they have Calabria, Kalulu and I've read somewhere that they want to keep Dalot (it actually depends more on ManU and what fee they'll ask for).

I really like him but he has nothing to do with us, just like Rano, Kolarov, Vecino and etc. These guys are good for teams that aim to CL spot but no more than that. We need to release them and use the money in a better way.

D'Ambrosio has been a good soldier for Inter, works hard and never complains about bench time. He is also quite versatile, can play RCB, LCB and even RWB in an emergency. He is a good bench player, I hope we take that option to extend his contract for another year.

he just never plays under Conte. that's the problem. Like 60 minutes total since the start of December. Not worth it for 4m a year, if Conte doesnt see him as more than a complete bit paart player.

Its obvious that when we are out of Europe and most of our starting XI are fit, some bench players will not get many minutes. That doesn't mean we don't need a bench. We need a bench when we are fighting on 3 fronts and/or are hit by injuries, COVID or suspensions. Thats when players like Dumbo become so useful.

D'Ambrosio has played a part in 20 games this season, starting 7 including 3 CL games, a total of 717 minutes and scored 3 goals. He has played minutes at RCB, LCB, RWB and LWB this season. Also last season Dumbo played a part in 32 games, total of 2095 minutes scoring 5 goals. So its unfair to say that he just never plays under Conte. I think since January we have found our "perfect XI" who pretty much start every game as we are only in one competition now, so there are less minutes for back up players in general, specially at the back 3.

Thats a credible contribution for a back up, and for me it makes it worthwhile to keep him around. Dumbo's versatility, work ethic and attitude makes him a very attractive option for the bench.

Darmian and Young both are clearly ahead of him as choices for backup, tbh.

I dont know if we really need 3rd choice wing back, either, especially with Darmian as a flexi one on both wings.

I like the guy, dont get me wrong, but his minutes are cameo at best, not even backup really.

His minutes last season are, if anything, a testimony to the fact that he's not in Conte's mind for this season.

Even Kolarov has played (considerably) more than Danilo since Dec.

Fair enough. I guess you are seeing him mainly as the 5th choice wingback, while I see him primarily as Skriniar's main back up at RCB. 5th choice wingback is just an extra.

I think we focus on upgrading a few other players before D'Ambrosio, players like Pinamonti, Kolarov, Vecino, Young, etc. D'Ambrosio I can live with for another year as he provides reliable cover for several positions.
