Silva isn't going anywhere. He wants to be a legend like Baresi, Costacurta, Tassotti, Maldini, and Nesta.

Fenway Sports Group (FSG) and Liverpool Football Club announced that Brendan Rodgers has been appointed as the club's new Manager, after signing a contract.

Rodgers, 39, is regarded as being at the forefront of a new generation of football coaches, an excellent tactician and motivator with a progressive philosophy. After an extensive two-week process where many highly-qualified candidates were carefully considered, Liverpool's ownership group identified Rodgers as the single outstanding candidate to implement their long-term vision.

[...]

Rodgers joins the Reds after a hugely successful spell at Swansea City; where he won them promotion to the Barclay's Premier League in his first full season in-charge. He then further defied the odds by securing a mid-table finish in England's top flight, playing a brand of football praised for its fluidity and entertaining, attacking nature.

New Manager Brendan Rodgers says he can't wait to get started at Anfield:

"I'm blessed to be given this opportunity. I want to thank John Henry, Tom Werner and FSG for the opportunity to manage such a great club. I'm really excited and I can't wait to get started on this incredible project going forward. I promise to dedicate my life to fight for this club and defend the great principles of Liverpool Football Club on and off the field."

[...]

Rodgers extensive coaching background began in 1995, when at just 22 years of age he became Academy manager for Reading. His talent and enthusiasm drew admirers and in 2004 Jose Mourinho swooped to secure his services for Chelsea, as they went on to dominate the Premier League for the next two campaigns.

The Northern Irishman was soon to be given the opportunity to manage outright, being appointed manager of Watford and then subsequently Reading, where his professional journey began.

Swansea City can confirm that Liverpool will not be allowed to make transfer bids for any players at the Liberty Stadium for the next 12 months.

The clause was included in the compensation agreement finalised last night between the two clubs following the departure of manager Brendan Rodgers from the Liberty Stadium to Anfield.

Chelsea will be much stronger next season. City is already strong. Arsenal seem to be improving too.
United are fucked. They are also broke.

IMO move hazard and mata and it'll work wonders. Hazard's natural position is AM where he has the freedom to roam to the wings

So is Matas. :) Mata is imho better as AM, more creative than Hazard. Hazard has still lots to improve to lead a team like Chelsea as their main playmaker.

He hasnt been sacked... They couldnt reach terms on a new deal. That is more of him quitting as opposed to getting fired.

Harry Redknapp sacked by Tottenham as Daniel Levy targets David Moyes

• Redknapp leaves after nearly four years in charge at Spurs
• No approach as yet made to Everton manager

http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2012/jun/13/harry-redknapp-sacked-tottenham-hotspur

This was coming, Harry flirted with England job which had impact on their league form. They missed out champions league football because of that and now he wants bigger contract. Levy is not the person who bends for everything Harry asks like previous owners.

Most likely they will go for Moyes and I dont know how good his appointment will be as at everton he played defensive game which suited them. But at Spurs he should adapt as they have players to play attacking game. Also won't be surprised to see someone like Martinez getting the job.

Premier League lands £3bn TV rights bonanza from Sky and BT

New entrant BT to launch sports channel, as Premier League hails 71% income boost from live TV rights auction

http://www.guardian.co.uk/media/2012/jun/13/premier-league-tv-rights-3-billion-sky-bt

Great news for the clubs, especially bottom clubs. Bottom clubs will get more than what City got this season for ending up as Champions. Something to learn for La Liga?
This equates to at least £14m more per year for each football club, with the bottom team in the league from 2013-14 onwards likely to receive more than the £60.6m Manchester City earned this year for ending the season as champions. Each individual televised match will now cost the broadcasters £6.6m, up from £4.7m under the previous deal

Dad's philosophical about leaving Spurs. On one hand, he had unfinished business. But on the other, he had £800k on his departure at 14/1.

Not Jamie Redknapp ‏@LiterallyJamie
Dad would just like to say that the Holland job is a triffic job, but it's someone else's job.

 Parody accounts

That may be true but who do you consider better on the wing. I feel like mata showed he can hold that role fairly well. Granted he didn't do amazing and did much better as an AM I feel like Hazard's true game only is serviceable at AM while mata is still decent on the wing.

Pretty much what I'm saying Hazard as an AM is >>>> than the loss you would get if Mata moved to the wing.

Anyways both players will get their chances there and we'll see how it goes :)

Hazard played many games as left winger or left forward, even Mata played as LW but Mata as AM would be more effective for Chelsea. Hazard has lot to prove to make Chelsea move their best player out of position.

Harry Redknapp's exit is confirmed.

Levy said:
This is not a decision the board and I have taken lightly.

"Harry arrived at the club at a time when his experience and approach was exactly what was needed.

"This decision in no way detracts from the excellent work Harry has done during his time with the club and I should like to thank him for his achievements and contribution.

Harry will always be welcome at the Lane."

Redknapp said:
I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at Spurs and am proud of my achievements.

"I have had a fantastic four years with the club, at times the football has been breathtaking.

"I am sad to be leaving but wish to thank the players, staff and fans for their terrific support during my time there

Ehhhhhhh thats not exactly true........if you watch his game yeah you might see him on the wing, but he's "actual" position is AM and they allow him to drift where ever he pleases.

lets see some statistics, Hazard have started only 8 games as AM, out of 47 games last season, in French league and CL.

Aside from that, i think Hazard would be much better on the wing than Mata for simple reason, Mata is team player and can actually create the game, is more experienced, and can make trough passes. I admit i havent seen much of Hazard, apart from his CL games, all of them, and few in the French league. And by no means he can create as Mata can, he is more of a dribbler who likes to hog the ball. That's why i think Mata should be the AM and Hazard the LM.

Although, in modern football no player has one position on the pitch, they all drift often to confuse the opponent. I wouldn't be surprised if i see them on the right sometimes, with Hulk going on the left or something. All of them can play everywhere.
