Then if MM decides to put 18m on the table he's ours? Kinda strange he's still in Barca if that's the case.

From what I've seen, theres fuck all cover from midfield for the defenders. Caldi hasn't been great, to be honest, Donati was hard done by, the LB looks completely clueless frmo what I've seen so far.

Honestly, it doesn't exactly say great things about Biraghi if this Regini kid is keeping him out of the side, who as you say is completely clueless. He was against Holland as well.

Yes, such is the nature of minimum fee release clauses. Mandatory in every pro contract in Spain.

Biraghi started the first two. Regini took the third game - where I believe Bianchetti and Biraghi were both rested. Dont know why Biraghi didn't "come back" into the side - maybe Regini played well that game or something.

I've only seen this game and the one against England, and so I'm only passing on Regini from this match.

Well yeah, that's just the clause though then you have to agree a contract with the player. And plus there's a difference playing with the Spanish team behind you and with our players behind you.

Well there will probably be offers from other clubs too (Man Utd is one of the major rumors) but yes 18m must automatically be accepted. Then the player would choose where to go. Or he could refuse all if he really wants to stay in Barca. So basically the only way Barca keeps him is if HE makes the choice to stay, because there will most certainly be clubs willing to meet that fee.

As I thought then, easier said than done. I guess he will refuse every offer untill they can rise the release clause (can they?)

not necessarily. he might want to leave, he might be pissed off he didnt get a new deal, or isnt getting space, etc.

i heard rumours that barca want to sell him to raise money for mata (or something)

Oh that would make sense then. Anyway no chance for us it seems as other UCL teams will be interested aswell.

Why the hell is Saponara not playing; I know that he's on loan from Milan, but he's still an effective player.

Both defences seem amateur, which just shows you need experience for that position.

Italy's forward line seems better, but the huge difference of quality in the midfield is apparent.

Its funny how everyone was jizzing about signing Montoya as our starting RB, when our own lad Donati has outshone him in this championship.

Sometimes we don't value what we already have... the grass always looks greener on the other side.

Regini should come off for Biraghi; this match is venturing into the realm of humiliation.

And yet, people wanted all these defenders in our team.

I don't think they would have done any worse than Silvestre and Chivu. Also their wages are lot lower.

We had one good defender last year and he is too injury prone which is pretty obvious at that age.

I think maybe Destro should come on for Borini to add a different flair to the attacking lineup.

I dont thoml anyone was jizzing over montoya. Quite the contrary, most didn't like him.

Regini suited the plan more as he attacked a bit more in the game against Norway than Biraghi did in the first two games. Not much to choose from between the two, both have been decent.

I think it's a tactical error by Italy, because what's being seen looks very different from what everyone's seen of the midfield players in top professional football.

Verratti, Saponara, and Florenzi are all strong midfielders, and I don't think that this was a good formation to use against Spain's mythical 4-3-3.

We needed a defensive fullback in this match; Italy needed to play a highly defensive game, what they are actually good at, and learn from the mistakes made at Euro 2012.

Honestly I wouldn't blame him for wanting to leave, he didn't get enough minutes this season despite Xavi being injured or out-of-form & Cesc being Cesc. I'm not so sure that will change next season considering the way things are going. Tito said he didn't even know about the release clause (Thiago had to play in 60% of matches for it to go away)... when the coach is oblivious to something that important there is something really really wrong.

This.

Plus Donati seems like a great fullback, but given that Mazzarri is our coach I don't think he'd be of any use to us now.
