Factoring in his age, his position, and the fact that we are possibly getting Chivu it makes sense to sell him. I mean how many players over the age of 30 do you know of that teams are able to make a profit off of, let alone an Inter player.

I would've given him another year, but it was a good deal for both of us. Grosso will always be in my memory with a fairy-tale story of his. From Serie C to World Cup win and Inter.

He left unproven, but I still have immense respect for the lad. Always seemed to me like a great professional who just had too much pressure on him to do well. People excepted him to be like World Cup, but he was in the form of his life and you can't repeat the best form of your life.

Despite not playing upto that level of World Cup, he did fine in my eyes. From what I've seen from his Palermo days, I believe that he would've reached that form next season with more time to adapt our play. Rough time with injuries really didn't give him the chance, but he did good in half-dozen matches. Scored two great goals and earned the Scudetto medal. He was still head and shoulders above Favalli, Coco, Pasquale and whoever we've had trying to actually play as a left-back in past years.

Lyon is a good destination for him, chance for European Glory next year and another title to add to his CV after Serie A and World Cup. Gives me a good reason to use my privilege of having Ligue 1 on my satellite TV.

But the money we got for him is good, we earned it all back and also Grosso can play more now. But he better be the last Italian leaving this club!

I take no crap about Grosso being a mercenary. Lyon is a great club, a world class club who can beat anyone on their day.

Inter just decided not to take part in the auction. We withdrew our offer to roma not chivu. We knew chivu would reject real.

It's a shame to see a paesano leave because, I would like to see quality Italians at Inter. But this might be one of the first times that we actually buy a player and sell him for profit.

It’s easy to make such comments ‘now’. However we signed Grosso prior to the WC where his price tag was still relatively low. He then had a great WC, but as many have mentioned earlier (inc myself) he just didn’t live up to the expectations – hence the exit. So I don’t think it’s fair to blame our management and call his transfer last summer a failure.

With Chivu offering a different type of LB style, this is great. Now we have our Grosso in Maxwell and a more defensive in Chivu (which allows three attackers/strikers).

Wow it was like yesterday when he came to Inter.. And I remember we were all excited about his arrival, like we are taking Messi or sbd...

Now he left in quiet.. no salutions, goodbyes.. he just left.. Nobody's very sad.. Well at least he won Serie A..
