What was that red card for Veron??? I heard it was a joke..

Anyway the players and Mancio said on inter.it that we played good..

He kicked a freekick too quick, so he got a second yellow card... But it was a stupid episode, for which you shouldn't send a player of the field... :yuck:

We really sucked, simple as that. The Veron red card was obviously pathetic but even before that, we sucked.

Sigh... I won't take anything from this match except that we sucked. we were up against a REALLY mediocre opponent, and we weren't that far away from conceding a goal.

you are right Jimmy, we where utterly crap. And has not really improved since the Palermo game. And I'm a littel nervous about our display, we have only played two acceptable games so far. And we really have to improve if we don't want one more of those dissapointing seasons. the only positive thing is that we can't possible be worce then we are right now.

but atleast we are not the only team with problems just look at Milan and Real.

Veron is a loss (stupid ref), of course there's Pizarro there, I like him more than Veron.
Did you watch the whole match?
How was CZ

couldn't believe CZ didn't get a yellow card for that challenge! Didn't think Veron played badly at all. Adriano had something like 7 or 8 shots, the closest being the free kick, but made some terrible misses. Wome had the funniest shot of the game (went out for a throw in). But yeh, all in all we didn't look great

Well, compared to Real we are very respectable. Real Madrid just completely suck. As for Milan, well they're coming off two 3-1 wins so they're not in complete trouble, even though they left it late against Fenerbahce. But look at Kaka, what a player. He's back to his best. His goals were just phenomenal.

Commentator in Lyon vs Real Madrid: Real Madrid need a big powerful centre back to take control of their defence and help Ramos, someone like Samuel"

I tried to watch Inter's game, but it buffered too much. Anyone who saw the full match able to give us some player ratings. Particularly on Samuel.
Good to hear Figo played very well once again. He and Stankovic seem to be getting along very well, I guess my hopes of Solari coming in are fading...but that's a good thing, because you know your wingers are going well if someone like Solari can't get a look in. I do wish that Santiago is given a go against Lecce though.

Are you sure you want my ratings? lol

Well firstly, Figo didnt play VERY well (wherever u read that, your being mislead). He played decently, but he suffered when Seba got sent off cause he had to put in more work in defence.

You can all d/l the game from Maxxed. and for everybody being so critical of the performance, FFS!~! This team is hugely underrated at home, where they crushed celtic 5-0! Credit to them, who even at 1-0 down pushed foward and made subs to BRING the game to us, unlike Anderlecht with Chelsea (example)

Heres ratings.

Cesar
6- he did nothing all game, only had one real shot on goal and it went straight into his legs.

Cordoba/Wome
6/5.5- Maybe im being harsh on Cordoba, but it was very clear he doesnt do to well on the right of defence. Wheres Burdisso? Wome has some bad touches and decision making. He has chances for 3 shots, and unlike him pulled none of them off.

Matrix & Samuel.
6.5-Both had good games, but its not as if they really suffered much. But it was a better Samuel (barely any stupid free kicks) which is a good sign

Zanetti
6-His had better games, but he made his presence felt.

Veron
6-Looked good until that bizzare incident

Stan
7.5-I thought he was very good, set up Adriano perfectly which was the reason for our goal and through the whole night (especially later onwhen it became hard for us) he dug in, it wasnt very pretty but all as well.

Figo
6.5-Played well, could of had a goal but was too nice :stress: he should of just shot it. But overall, his getting there.

Pizarro
6.5-Played very well in our weakened midfield at the end, helf the ball for us and kept posession alot. Set up Adriano and Martins on some good runs.

Cruz
6.0- Nice finish to the goal, but what was he thinking when he was 1 on 1 :wallbang:

Adriano
6.5- Great at the start, but today proved my theory. Adriano cant finish well from close range! he always puts wayyyyyyyy to much power as if his outside the box. Proves he isnt the box finishing type. But did well for us.

Martins had to little time.

Id like to see Solari start playing on the left soon, but Stan is playing well lately for both country and club so it will be hard.

Mancini
8.5- Nice selection, very good to start Cruz and rest Cambiasso who has played plenty. Could of gone with Ze at RB but i thought his choices were exceptional today. When we went 1 man down he changed the formation very well with good subs like Pizarro to get posession and slow the ball down. Considering...

He owned up and took the blame for the defeat agaisnt Palermo like a real man would, but today he deserves the credit for the win.

What I never understood why was Figo played so much central all the time. That was before the red card, because it was obvious he was affected the most from that card.
In a central position he was harmless, while he was more of a threat on the flank.

It's Stankovic who should cut central.

It's still pathetic that we didn't win this by more goals and better performance. Make no mistake, this Artmedia team has no business in the CL. A few dribbles was all they pulled off.

3 points and a clean sheet. F*ck how we perform & how many goals we scored, Jose Mourinho style. :D

Seriously, I believe that result is the most important thing. Against Juventus in SuperCoppa Italia, we didn't play well but we grinned in a victory and that's all that matters. We were left happy men and Juve were left as the usual whiners.

There's still room for improvement. Adriano should perhaps call Ronaldo or Crespo or Vieri or Trezeguet or Ruud Van Nistelrooy or Makaay and ask them to teach him how those chances he received inside the box. Buck up, l'Imperatore! :) Nice crosses to set up Cruz twice though. Cruz' miss was laughable, as Helal had said btw. :D

I just returned from Bratislava and i'll try to give you a short match report later when I have more time.

Just one thing about Verons Red Card.
I don't know if you normally get yellow card for taking a free kick to early but Verons action was stupid anyway.
If i remember correctly he even blasted his shot right into the middle of the wall so this is not really a sign that he tried to suprise the defence...
(not to mention the foul when he got the first yellow where his hard tackling came way too late)

The ref should have given Veron a second chance. Sure it was stupid, but to show him his second yellow for kicking the ball early? Come on...

As i said I don't know if or if not a yellow card must/can be given for kicking the ball early by the rules.
But the whole situation could have been avoided because imo there was simply no reason for taking the ball and shoting it right into the wall.

FYI, Veron avoided the wall. He could have at least given him a warning for this offense. Considering Veron already has a yellow, to show the second that easily is totally laughable.

We sucked, what are you guys on?

We played against a team that basically played for a point and defender with plenty of men. We made some wonderful moves, Adriano once again shows his skills and unselfishness with a second assist to Cruz. Figo and Cruz had sitters that they should have easily scored. Deki worked amazingly hard, defense was decent and Walter Samuel looked composed considering he isn't up to full fitness and as for Wome, he has certainly improved since the first time I saw him.

Fabio ;)
