Mexico's energy and determination stoped brazilians from finding their rhythm...Well deserved win for Mexico

Brazil vs Mexico match analysis -> CLICK

Mexico played and Brazil showed up at pitch as if the gold medal was going to be giving to them by Mexico. First mistake Rafeal aka as the soon to be former right back of Man U, always makes mistakes that a defender shouldn't be making. The first pass he gives away to the opposition. Its something that he did in last season at a Man U game that cost Man U the game. He is over rated and shouldn't have been started over the other right back they had on the bench. Rafeal isn't even in Maicon's footsteps when Maicon was at that age. Maicon would have eaten through the Mexico defense on the wing and dropped back to stop the counter attack. Later on in the game he (Rafeal) tried to do a little flick instead of controlling the ball and passing, and he ended up giving up the ball.

I liked the fact that Juan went and got in Rafeal's face because he was messing up all day long. Another is this just shows that Brazil at least this squad is mostly all individual talent and no team work. In the game when they were still 1 goal down I watched Neymar try to take on 5 players when he should have passed when he pulled the defenders out of position. As the english commentator said when I was watching game "this just goes to show that with all the celebrities on the Brazilian team with their Real Madrid, Inter Milan, Man U, Chelsea, Porto that they were cut down by players on a Mexico team that predominantly has players that play domestically in Mexico; goes to show its not just about the name or price tag but about the heart of these Mexican players to knockout a giant."

Bad coaching, lack of confidence, physically weaker than other teams, they aren't use to winning(no longer the case for Mexico and Spain. Brazil, Argentina, Italy, Germany are the top 4 teams in the world and always will be because no matter how shitty the roster these teams know they can and should win and anything less than being champion is failing. Didn't Russia rape italy before the Euro and Italy went to the final and Russia got knocked out of the easist group. One team just use to winning. For Mexico I think it's physical weakness. If you compare a US player to a Mexican player you have a 5+ inch difference in size and like 20lbs in weight. Then some teams like Colombia have god awful coaching that basically screw the team.

I for one like the US NT they just have a awful awful roster and blame it on coaching. Even with Mou being their coach doesn't change the fact their players suck. Tho they defiantly have more balls than any other team and american are use to winning which most other countries are not.

Americans are use to winning? As a person who lives in the states that's a false statement. Do you know when they have the world baseball tournament USA usually lose and very horrible to put it nicely. U have teams like Cuba and Japan who Americans don't watch day in and day out like in the MLB. As a result they don't see the heart, hard work, and total dedication these players from other countries put in. U know what's funny because baseball everyone knows is a sport Americans should dominate because they invented it and also the most competitive league (MLB) takes place there. But when you don't think highly of your opponents that's when you lose. Which is what happens with USA in world Baseball, its actually a very good reality check to show Americans that other countries are working hard at a sport and not taking it lightly as they will automatically win.

In terms of track the USA don't always win, you have the caribbean countries like Jamaica, Trinidad and others who always do well and upset America. That's why they have begun to take track stars from the Caribbean and giving them track scholarships to USA colleges and then those same track stars end up running for USA.

You name the sport and you will see that the USA doesn't always win other than maybe Basketball and that's only because the Euro basketball league and other leagues around the world haven't become as established as the NBA. But when they do, I am certain these other countries will start to beat the USA and give them a run for their money in Basketball. Just let them get established and you will see these other countries will start to produce kids who will be phenomenal.

In terms of the USA men NT, the reason why they don't do good is because in the states soccer or futbol as the world calls it, is looked down upon. One kids who are good at it are told to go to NFL and become a Wide Receiver, especially when they are tall. Why because the kids are told their is more money in Basketball and American Football than soccer. Also as a kid growing up in states when your a male, you don't see girls flocking your soccer games and cheer leading, so you automatically want to go to American Football and Basketball where you know you will be the man of the school if your the star in those respected sport. My thing is this their needs to be better youth soccer leagues in the USA that promotes soccer but not just that tells them the entire world plays soccer and that they can make money by going outside the USA. Until they invest in soccer USA team will be struggling to compete against the big soccer National teams like Netherlands, Germany, brazil, argentina and etc.

Also the stuff about soccer in USA is coming from someone who went to school all his life in NYC (up until college then I went upstate new york) but is a die hard football fan and seen on first hand experience how soccer is looked down upon. The sad part is that out of all the sports soccer players are usually the ones that go the longest and stay healthy after retiring. Usually the NBA and Football players usually get out of shape and have health problems because these sports require individuals to bulk up and also pick kids specifically not based on talent but height and weight in terms of how big and wide their body structure is. As suppose to soccer it doesn't matter your height and body structure but just that you can play and play well.

Great analysis as always. Just to clarify, as far as I know Mexico always played 4-4-2 or 4-4-1-1 as you like it, and Gio Dos Santos didn't played because he was injured. You're also right about the energy of the mexicans, I'm sure they got the best stamina of all teams, like in the Senegal game after 90 min Senegal looked finished and mexicans were still running like crazy until the end of extra time :)

To be completely honest, it's a blessing in disguise for Americans that they don't win the World Baseball Classic as it helps promote exposure of the game in other countries. There is no reason why there is a non-existent baseball market throughout the world.

The US soccerteam will never be elite. Top athletes in the US can play either hockey, football, baseball, or basketball and make more money than soccer plays (both domestically, and in Europe) while still being able to play at home and develop icon status. If the US ever do build a true powerhouse team, that would be borderline embarrassing for the other countries of the world considering their is a 90% chance the roster will be composed of the US' C level athletes.

I love how the price of brazilian olympics went up after they got their ass handed to them by Mexico.

Really? I always gathered the impression you love Brazilian people/were a fan of their national team

The second goal was incredible! At first I thought it was a big defensive mistake but didn't notice the movement of Peralta was like that. He practically run around the defense to leave his man behind. Amazing and well planned goal. Hulk was marking him btw, not Juan Jesus.
