It’s remarkable how much he’s matured from his Milan and early Inter days.

It’s more than fitting that he’s the successor to Brozovic, who also slotted in from of the defence rather unexpectedly.

I just wish he’d score a fucking free kick every once in a while.

Selling him now would be flushing this season down the toilet imo You spectacularly undersell Brozovic, counting on this guy to seemlessly replace him, only to sell him after the season has already started....I bet Marotta and Ausillio won't even consider it.
Football must come first at some point.

His free kick skills are completely gone. Don't know what happened there. Barella needs to take over.

Sensi and Dimarco should be the ones to take direct free kicks.

Realistically we can sell him if someone offers close to 50mln and replace him with Amrabat for 30-35mln (demanded by Fiorentina). It's a downgrade but not so huge.
Anyway, I don't think that this is a good idea at this particular time.

I do agree that his freekick ability seems to be a shadow to what has been earlier but it's not like Barella is a kind of freekick specialist. In fact, Hakan's shooting is superior to anyone we have in the squad, I just think he needs to cool himself down ahead of these because it feels like he's trying too hard to impress.

His execution of the ball is insane. I want him to try more because eventually he'll take care of these. Haha, he didn't fail enough to overcome this difficult situation.

Are Barella and Sensi the only other midfielders who can take free kicks?

There's a clip of Mkhitaryan scoring a free kick, but he went under the wall, and that approach died when Brozovic invented the art of lying down on the ground.

Couldn't find any clips of Fratessi or Asllani scoring set pieces, but Asllani strikes me as a player who could pull it off.

Yet he was the only one who scored a free kick for us. I don't even think Calha has scored a free kick for us, dimarco at least has scored 2 free kicks for us.

Brozo has scored freekicks for us but that doesn't make him a freekick specialist. I wouldn't write Hakan off just yet because there is still something in him that strikes me as an incredible shooter in term of power/accuracy. Could it be that he's kind of unstable mentally when it comes to taking them or whatever. I'm not going to argue in this topic but I think he must keep taking these freekicks and set pieces.

Reeeeeally not at his best today. Even the shot that almost went in was actually a deflection.

Some of his passes today were infuriating. Why is he trying some slick passes in our half? Mostly it was his fault we lost the ball so many times, luckily Cagliari was shit.

Hakan, wake the fuck up. Solid in defence as always ofc

In the second half he was bossing the game. First half not so much because other players were very active, but once we changed our approach, he stepped up heavily.

He's been best midfielder tonight for me as well. Dominated the game by far, such a shame his shots never go in. Nobody can convince me there's a player in this league whom has a better shooting than Hakan.

There was also a few flashes of brilliance which I enjoyed so much. Except of Barella whom was disappointing, the rest were quite good.

Another critical tackle on Nandez following a solid block tackle against Monza the week before.
