Yes let's play 10 men behind the ball... didn't you see what happened Man Utd, Chelsea or even us this season. For my love of football I hope I never see a lineup like that. Look we have one chance to win this, we played defensively against Barca twice in the group stage and they took us to the cleaners. PUT YOUR BALLS ON THE LINE that's how you become great, we have to play like we did against Chelsea.

I really want to believe we can do it but after watching both games today.... Yes we have got better but Barcelona has as well.

There will be lots of cards and that is a problem for us. We are the second most carded team left and I am sure some of our main players will pick up few.

Very hard task, no matter how you slice it but I have faith.

Walter Samuel,
Think we all know key to this game.

Stop that little fucking bastard that is Messi :p

Mourinho: "Lucio, mark Messi with everything you have"
Lucio: "Lucio kill Messi"

I think the key is stopping Xavi. I don't think we will have problems stopping Messi as long as we are tactically astute. Last time we played them, Chivu and Samuel had no problems against him.

We have to get a very good result from this match so that we can go to Camp Nou to defend for 90 minutes with 10 man. That is the only way.

I'd say that we have to win, 0-0 is not enough. Preferably with two goals. Sounds hard? Might be but tight defending and odd counters could do it. In this match we can't waste ANY scoring chances, do you hear me Milito and Eto'o.

since barca already beat us and with easy at the camp nou i really do hope that they underestimate us, we are definatly better and more ready this year then anyother recently but nonetehelss i am happy with the teams achivment on the champions league even if we go out after this

as for formation i would like all our players to stand in one straight line infront of the penelty box, tis way for the 180 minutes barac players will just bump into the great wall of inter lol, then julio cesar will win us the game on penelties :D

They beat us with ease due to motta going walk about and allowing them to score a very early goal. We can't allow that again. But we are a lot better than back then.

Arsenal, who is second best to Barcelona, at keeping the ball possesion, playing adventorous football, tried that. We all saw how it ended.

Man Utd tried that for first 20 minutes last season in the final. We saw how it ended.

I'm sure Barca fans would love us to play that way, but as long as there is no team in the world, who can keep the possesion like Barcelona can, who can pressure the other team like Barcelona can, there is no way of playing with Barcelona open football. Sure, some teams manage that in spanish league, but it has a lot to do with luck, rather than being that good of a team. (if that was the case, they would be as good as Barcelona).

We ain't stupid like Wenger is, although we will hear a lot of moaning from Barca fans.

My reply to a coments like that is always the same: We ain't that stupid.

Inter is/was never a team who puts the show first. Result comes first always, and it was like that since day one, when Inter was created. Games against Barcelona are special games, and deffending with the whole team in those games is no shame. Chelsea did it, Man Utd did it, and many other good teams did it as well.

ps. I see many people forget who stopped Messi in the first game at Meazza. Remember the name... ? :)

it's pretty different inter from the one who hold them at home.
We played ultra defensive football and it worked.
But a tie is not gonna be enough...

Firstly, we tried that twice in the group stage and got hammered twice. (just because we hung on by our fingernails in the game at the San Siro doesn't change that) Secondly the situation was different in those ties both Chelsea and Man Utd played the first leg away, and were confident of getting a result at home. We are playing the 1st leg at home and the 2nd at the Nou Camp goodluck defending a 1-0 there.

Barca can be beaten without playing ultra defensive Rubin showed that and more importantly Sevilla did as well, they played up tempo and ran them ragged.

As was pointed out many times, we ain't the same team anymore. (offensively).

I expect us to look exactly the way we looked in the first half versus Barcelona, with better play on the other end of the pitch. In the first half, Barcelona had more ball possesion, but they didn't do much against us, despite this 1, or 2 chances that Ibrahimovic had.

The problem in those games, was that our offensive play was based on the players who were new. Barcelona players played for many years together, instead. That was the difference, and it was very easily seen.

I'll repeat again. We ain't the same team. We ain't CL blocked as we were before, and players are gelled (couple more years would be better, but it's not like they see eachother for the first time either) together now.

This will be deffinetly different type of game (as good deffensively, but a lot better from the counters).

No more 4-3-3 with Pandev. It kills Eto'o's ability to cause problems.

Hey man it was really trashy you posted here just to prove some point that's not even valid. Get your ass out of this forum and come back when everything is finished, we will talk after that, cuz Chelsea fans were doing the same before they went home crying, so just shut up and let us watch this match. Even if we do lose, it's gonna be your team's most difficult victory EVER. Thank you!

FORZA INTER! Please don't underestimate us and don't celebrate yet. We are yet to be seen.

I think a lot of the debate around strategy is going to come down to: should we attack or should we park the bus?

Here are some of my own observations:

(1) We have to score goals against this Barca team or we're dead. If we sit back and play for the draw, they will punish us, especially at the Camp Nou.

(2) On the other hand, I think Chelsea last season showed that parking the bus can work against Barca. Guus Hiddink played extremely defensive football, and Chelsea handled the Barca attack pretty well. They pressed on the counter and managed to get on the scoresheet, only to lose the game on away goals, and I personally think they were very unlucky not to go through (and a lot of that...along with Drogba's subsequent outburst...had a whole lot to do with poor officiating).

Conclusion (and this is no earth-shattering conclusion): we have to play the way we did against Chelsea in the quarters. The defense has to be dead on, Cambiasso and Motta have to completely shut down Xavi and Iniesta in midfield, and Sneijder, Eto'o, Milito, and Ballo/Pandev have to be relentless in pressing the attack. In other words, a flawless performance. Like I said, this is no penetrating insight on my part, but would you expect any less to be required of us to get past this Barcelona team?
