What a match.

I didn't care about the lost, but I am actually furious with Inzaghi, surprise, surprise.
The tactics was good, the team B was hungry; we showed class right till 92' min.
Then it was either
  1. complacent
    1. (Pavard, Mhiki, Dimarco)
  2. confused
    1. (Sensi)
  3. fatigue
    1. (Darmian).
Klaassen showed he can play well, when we do pass and move, one (few) touches football.
Basically B team midfield can play well if we don't try to play possession football; just keep the tempo high and move and attack; however, they won't convert to goals.

We should NOT loan out Bisseck, we need to keep playing him, with this improvement rate; he might even be a better CB than Scalvini would be. Bisseck showed everything, when to press up, stalling, dash back to cover a fail press, 1 on 1; still need to work on set-pieces/crosses header defending and anticipation, but he is learning fast and once he full understands the system, he can be a beast for us.

Frattesi is showing his stats, high xG and low in goal to xG ratio, gets in position but not converting. Extremely present in defending, tackles, body checks; good player.

Asllani is starting to remind me of Luis Jiménez, like he doesn't have it to be a A grade player, maybe a B+ player, and I am trending this lightly, he is a player that lacks of physic that Sensi is actually better, as Sensi has agility, good balance, good acceleration & deceleration, even energy to cover more ground. (Sensi is just injury prone) Now I am not saying a player that lacks physical ability cannot be a Big Team player (e.g. Pirlo, Trezeguet, F.Inzaghi, Icardi, Cambiasso), but your game reading ability has to be exceptionally good and not just good, and even when you are extremely good you might still not make it (e.g. Morfeo); I sincerely hope I am wrong, and he can have a breakthrough, but despite seeing improvement, I think I have overestimated his game reading ability and physicality, like sometimes I think his mis-passes/overpasses are due to his lack of strength.

What I am livid at is playing Toro for 98 mins, the eagerness to win Coppa that we sub in first team players knowing a good chance we will be entering extra time, piss poor man-management, hence you see tons of complacent, confused and tired players, and for fucking what?

If Toro ends up injured, we are official fucked big time, we can forget the second star.

The greediness for winning fucking Coppa!! You gotta be kidding me.

I am also pissed at the management, shrugging off buying a striker cause "Mhiki can player as a striker", what kinda fucking bullshit is that.

I like Corazza (RB) and Ravaglia (GK), extremely good for a backup GK, Corazza just seems so good, but if we don't even play Zanotti, forget about it.

Finally, I am not saying this cause I am mad at Inzaghi right now, but I truly think so is Motta and Inzaghi will be top coaches, but Motta should reach higher, pity it is insane to even think of replacing the coach of we are having.

The result of this game is the attention of detail of Motta, also his team plays well in every aspects of the game.

Let’s not get carried away. If Lautaro didn’t miss the pen we probably go on to win this. We did keep another clean sheet through 90 minutes. The first goal we gave up in extra time is flukey from a Zirksee backheel that comes off once in a lifetime.

The second goal is where we have an issue. The team lost its head a bit and was so afraid of pens that we got hit on the counter trying to push for the winner. It wasn’t necessary. One take away from today is that Sommer is extremely important with his “minor” saves that he makes look easy. I feel like he would stop at least one of those two goals from happening today. Audero is just not that class. Glad we probably won’t see him again now that we’re out of Coppa.

Classic Cafe, downplaying every loss.

As far as I'm concerned, this was an unmitigated disaster.
  • Had to play an exhausting 120 minutes, especially tough on someone like Darmian - a 34 year old who is our only fit RWB
  • Had to bring on the starters when it would've been preferable not to use them
  • Lautaro missed a penalty, potentially hurting his confidence
  • Lautaro picked up what looks like a groin injury - one of the most annoying and difficult muscular injuries to treat. I won't jump to conclusions but considering his importance, any injury could have enormous ramifications
  • Suffered the ignominy of yet another come-from-in-front loss, once again at home
  • Gave further fuel to an opponent who is rapidly becoming a regular problem (last 11 game record against Bologna is 5W, 1D, 5L)

Despite all of these things we "paid for", we ended up getting knocked out anyway. All that cost for nothing. Complete disaster.
Yes, classic Cafe not concerned over a loss in Coppa.

You didn't give a shit about this match until we lost. You are hyperboling the whole situation as the classic Uni move.

Gonna save the rest for the next episode. :D

Motta is our next coach….

If we don’t win the league title he getting the job. We don’t have the roster to play multiple tournaments at the same time. Hope we don’t have our normal January slump

I don’t care we are out but awful starting line up we should have won in the 1st 90. No youth players used in copa italia
Motta will be taken coming summer. Be it PSG( they will sack 85% possession 1 shot on target Enrique) or Milan or EPL clubs, Chelsea??

So no, Motta won't be coming here in the next years because we will give Inzaghi another contract (2027) with wage upgrade if he brings the scudetto.

The moment Lautaro fucked up the penalty, it was sure that we would somehow lose this game.

I honestly don't care much about this game. I want Inter to win all trophies but lets face it, even when we won last season coppa italia we didn't care much. we celebarated a bit and moved on to the real deal, CL and securing top4 in Serie A.

I think that if Inzaghi want a decent rotation in attack, he should trust Arna more. Arna was more than fine, he created chances, he pressed the defenders well and actually, when he went out our attacking game didn't got better but vice versa. He missed one big chance, but I dont think that's a reason why he should not play more.

I went to bed in the halftime and after I saw the result, I don't regret it 😂

All in all this loss could be a blessing in disguise because in the most important phase of the season we do not have to worry about those Coppa games. The most important objective has to be the Scudetto. As long as we achieve the second star, I don't care about anything else. So let's concentrate on our game on Saturday against Lecce.

Forza Inter!

I don't think that this loss is so big problem.
First of all, we will miss some meaningless coppa matches. Then, I think this will have a positive impact on the group because they will be even more focused and determined.
In reality, we totally dominated them and only the misses of Frattesi, Arnautivic and the penalty, saved them from something like 3/4 to zero.
I think Lautaro's injury is not serious and we can afford to rest him vs Lecce. So, he will have a lot of time to recover till the our next game, which is on 29 iirc.

Glass half-full, we've won plenty of coppa lately, one year without is no big deal. That's also 4 games less than we would have to play had we went through. Given the state of our defense that perhaps got a bit lulled in due to their fancy stat with conceded goals, if there was a nasty reality check wake up call to happen, better here than in the league.

Speaking of Coppa, I'd field mostly the back up players, even some primavera lads in that new Supercoppa tournament. I don't want to risk the starters in some advertising/entertainment tournament.

Could't be bothered but it's always a shame you lose these kind of games when missing a penalty. The only concern is we played 120 minutes and need to play again on saturday. We always had to win the Serie A whether we continued in the cup or not.

Just hope Lautaro isn't injured because that would mean a mini crisis.

Unless they give a lot of cash, agreed.

Yet another come from in front loss? You do realize that we ve lost a grand total of 2 games this season?

Not that i disagree playing 120 mins and going out is probably the worst outcome there is the rest of your complaints are meh... ( i might give you the lautaro injury if it turns out serious)

Yup I will save the blame if we lose points in 2 days. Due to exhaustion of those whom played too old too much (Acerbi, Darmian)
If we win everything is fine.

Would be hilarious, given Saudis are apparently not pleased how there is only Inter from the "big name teams" in this Super Coppa tournament. Then if we've went and used our bench, let alone kids, would be the ultimate FU to Saudis. :D

Yep agree. I only missed a litle bit more grinta. Maybe they dont really cared about that game.
A lot of people say that it was useless going to extra time. Yeah true, but it would be also useless going to the semis or Final only to lose it and maybe also risking the players for the league... better getting eliminated now then in the next rounds. We will have 4 games less to play which is not bad.

Inzaghi always can bring in Lautaro, Barella and Thuram 10 min before the end.
