I final finished the game, which I feel very different from the comments here.
The team was probably trying to reserve energy for the Derby, every time they led they slow down the tempo and ease the intensity, and try to control a bit more.

It can also be complacent, like we are very close to winning the scudetto, but still the first goal was exactly how we did it this season, the team is still there.

Ranieri actually did a great job, he knows his team is inferior, so there weren't a lot of attempts in build up or complicated pressing.
He kept the plan simple and it was effective with some luck.
The attack was the cream, they almost only need to win the first long ball contact or break of the CB and let someone else shoot, typical classical English 2 strikers method, what is concerning is Acerbi is showing signs of not being himself for not dominating the challenge. (Cannot have a conclusion on what is causing it)

Not to mention, the second goal was kinda handball.

All in all, I don't buy the theory we got devasted after Atletico, nor we are so low on energy.

I think we could have avoid the tie, btw getting a 2 goals lead, but it is nothing like the team has collapsed or something super negative that we will collapse next season etc.

I miss Bastoni Acerbi Darmian formation. Why playing Bisseck instead three Italian combo. Even Manchester City cannot easily score use.

Darmian an Acerbi was utter rubbish of late there is nothing to miss. Hopefully Acerbi is benched the rest of the season because he has been disastrous of late

If they are as tired as some claim to excuse their lackluster performances then they are too tired to go to the summer tournaments...

If they still go then its quite clear its not tiredness but a lack of total commitment.
I expect Inter players to at all times be totally and has not been the case since Atletico.

Records matter as far as legacy go. The reason the trap team is mentioned alongside the grande & treble teams is cause of the record season.

Treble team is seen as 100x more important achievement than some meaningless point tally, especially one achieved in a league that was utter rubbish and likely never will be beaten because of that reality we where never on route to actually beat it,
to beat it required us to only drop two point in 10 games that was completely unrealistic to ever happen. We have a point average of 2.71 pr game in serie A in 2024, it’s not because of 2024 this team doesn’t reach it, it’s because of the 2.5 average of 2023 part of the season. Halfway through we were on cause of a 95p season, we started with a way to low points average to ever realistically beat it.

That said I give absolutely nothing about any sort of record of any kind, that doesn’t involve trophies. I really don’t care one tiny bit about points records, clean sheet record, goal for/against, longest winning streak, longest streak without loosing and all other meaningless records… trophies matters everything else is irrelevant.

Unfortunately, but he deserves to be benched with his poor performance two games in a row.
You still have to trust him over de Vrij, who has routinely struggled against Giroud. If Acerbi looks bad against Milan then we'll have to start asking the question of how much the Juan Jesus incident is affecting him.

They made a statement on the matter with regards to the rules.

They say his arm isn’t in an unnatural position, not intentional, ball came from behind and it was random, those the goal stands

Watch the rules change once it benefits us...

I thought every handball with intent or no intent is penalty, but doesn't seem like that anymore - why are we still struggling with this rule?

Why should I trust a player directly responsible in the goals that meant a draw and who has been abysmal since that incident. That’s not how it works.

We call it Scudetto of records for a reason. It won't spoil our celebration for second star but let's not act like records don't matter.

Yeah, if you are a nut for statistics.

I stay adamant, playing good football and winning trophies matters to me more than records. Trophies+records <<<<< good football+trophies

To be fair, that's not how the offside rule works.

We should, though, be majorly outraged at the non-call on the Lapadula-hands, which, by my account is one of the biggest and most outrageous mistakes post-VAR - the argument that it's 'unintentional', even though he's shown to look at the ball beforehand, doesn't really hold water when we're talking about a literal assist with his arm outstretched at his sides. If Lapadula doesn't touch the ball with his outstrecthed arm -> the ball doesn't go to Viola -> there is no goal. Clear cause and effect caused by using his arm in an unnatural position as defined by the law, however unwilling or not.

But we're sure to win the Scudetto, so we don't fuss, and apparently we as a hivemind have come to the conclusion that records are useless, meaning the rest of the season but the next match we win is usless, but I mean... can you imagine the outrage from other fans and media if that goal stands for Inter?

One bad result, our bad form, and now we gonna blame refs? Cmon
Great way to really logically, factually argue against the case of calling a handball, and not instead just shit-post (as usual).

Same. This was not bad game at all.
Just to add, there seems to be a very clear divide between the “social media” Inter fan and the “real life, match going” Inter fan.

Most people who I speak to who live in Italy and are able to go semi-frequently to the stadium are and have been in a constant state of euphoria pretty much since we went 7 points clear. The draws against Napoli and yesterday are received with a few shrugs and then the party starts again. It’s just us miserable fucks on the internet that are this upset about it

Man,who cares. It is Copa/Euro summer. Give them some break.

Records are great but we don't need to chase them at any cost. If summer ahead is without major tournaments...sure,go ahead and try to get this record. In this case, who cares. We need them fresh mentally and physically for a new season and there is absolutely no need to play at 100% when season is over and then again in the summer.

Imagine complaining with a draw against Cagliari when we got unique opportunity to clinch this in some magnificent way. With a win yesterday draw here would be enough and that doesn't sound all that exciting. But now when we need 3 points there is a chance to create something for history books. CAN'T. WAIT.

This might easily be a draw but just opportunity do win in a style is well worth it.
I guess I told you.

Reward was too big to skip that opportunity.
