Pirlo is and has always been the central reference of Juventus game. Because most of Juve's players are at least decent at off-the-ball movement, his passing is a lethal weapon that we should watch for. Last season, in Turin, Strama made tactical play hindered Pirlo's movement by using tridente formation (in which Milito or Palacio acted as his guards). Another advantage of playing that way was, we could cut off Juventus' superior qualities in midfield, directly pressuring their backline. However, to make that works we need to players such as Milito or Cassano who are very good at holding up the ball, something of which we are currently lacking.

So, despite the Mazzarri's 'to-impose-our-own-style-of-play' philosophy, I suspect Mazzarri may have been preparing the way to counter Juve's style of play. I suppose we'll play with 3-4-2-1 formation in which Guarin would act as AMC alongside Ricky and Pirlo's personal guard.

This is a different game from last year...Pirlo isnt the only key for them,they have Tevez,Lichshteinerthefukis his name as well who will be deadly along with Asamoa. Nagatomo and Jonathan both need to be on top of their game. I consider holding Pirlo to be the easiest of the three to mark and get agitated. This is going to be a tough one,I cant remember a time where the gap was this wide between the two...I am sure someone will try to correct me.
