I'd risk Mbaye instead of Cambiasso in the back, baptism by fire.

With Samuel, Ranocchia and Silvestre down, we only have Juan and Chivu left in defense for the next 3 weeks... Fatigue and injuries are killing us, and with Milito also down, we only have Palacio & a half fit Cassano upfront (and grandpa Rocchi).

This probably means that Cambiasso may have to play in the defense, and Alvarez/Guarin may have to play as forwards every now and then. Which stretches our midfield, which is missing Stankovic, Obi and Mudingayi already. In hindsight, perhaps we shouldn't have loaned out so many of our youngsters... we could do with Caldirola and Livaja/Longo right now.

I feel for Strama, don't envy his job right now.

Moratti: "I love Balotelli because he grew up with us since he was a child. Just like Ronaldo who scored in a derby but at the end we won."

Kovacic: "Milan? I believe in Jesus Christ and do not fear the Devil."

I'll post all the Milan derby related interviews in here. :)

EXORCISM KOVACIC

“Whoever believes in Jesus does not fear the Devil.”
The 18 year-old is ready for his first derby: “I already know everything about the derby, Stankovic has explained it to me.”
“I cannot wait to hear the scream of the San Siro.”

Appiano Gentile – Mateo Kovacic, this has been a roller coaster no?

“Yeah, why?”

Two days after training with Dinamo Zagreb, you found yourself at Pinetina with Inter, debuted in Italy in the defeat at Siena, almost debuted at the San Siro but injured your ankle, four days later played very well and provided a beautiful assist, everything collapsed in Florence and you got substituted at half time, won at Cluj and now there is the derby. Don’t you get dizzy in the head a bit?

“Perhaps a little bit yes but I do not have vertigo. We were very down after the 4-1 in Florence and we hope to raise again and be ready for the derby.”

When you were playing Austria, with LASK Linz, how was the derby with BW Linz?

“I was too young to remember. But those derbies in Croatia, I remember very well. In theory, the derby should be Dinamo Zagreb and NK Zagreb but the reality is that the true derby for Dinamo is against Hajduk Split. I participated in two matches with the last one being a 3-1 victory. I still have the sensational feelings in that match although I did not score. Of course, this one in Milan is another thing.”

What do you know about Milan derby?

“There was no need for anyone to tell me anything because it was enough to see some of these matches on TV to know that this is the most important derby in Italy. The rest is explained by Dejan Stankovic with whom I understand very well despite the language issue. He has played a lot and I also remember his goals against Milan (Stankovic has scored four in Milan derbies).”

Yes, but the scream and the thunder of the San Siro are something difficult to explain.

“In fact, I cannot wait to hear it.”

Have you called your family to be in the stands?

“It will just be my father Stipo. My mom is going to stay in Croatia because she is working and must be watching my two sisters Jelena and Katarina, both are going to school.”

And Isabel, your girlfriend?

“She cannot come, she also has to study…”

What do you think your emotion will be?

“A little nervous at first but when the game starts, the nervousness will pass away and you do not think about it anymore. If you love football like me, you live for these types of matches. You don’t think about the tension, all you want is to play.”

What if you do not get the chance to play?

“To me, one for all and all for one. It is one way of saying that Stramaccioni will decide and I am fine with whatever he says.”

And what is the one thing that he tells you the most?

“It’s difficult to say things like ‘do this, do that’ but he always pushes me to play my style of football and I like that a lot.”

Did you like Milan on Wednesday night?

“We all saw it together in a hotel during our trip to Romania. I wanted to confess that I was pretty sure that Barcelona would won but Milan played a fantastic match, really fantastic.”

What did that game teach you?

“I think that against us, they will play in a different way, less defensive for example. On our part, however, we will need speed, a solid defensive plan, everyone must be involved in building our plays.”

Who do you think Inter should pay special attention to?

“Balotelli and El Shaarawy, but it would be a mistake to think that they are their only two dangerous players.”

What we have and have not seen from Kovacic?

“I always give my all on the field but I am still young, my time is yet to come. Inter and I are a like, we can give a lot more.”

A side midfielder, a regista (midfield director), a man behind the strikers, do you see yourself playing in all these three roles?

“I am where the coach asks me to be but I do not field like a side midfielder. I like being in the midfield of the field.”

So for you, it is best to make an assist for a goal?

“Since I am a midfielder then I would have to say yes.”

Now you always like to play with the ball and that comes with the cost of making mistakes as it has happened in these first few matches with Inter.

“If you ask me what I prefer a misplaced or uninspired pass, I would say the uninspired one because it would do less damage to the team. But it is also true that I always try to make elaborate plays which can have a big pay off at the cost of making a mistake. So far, Stramaccioni has never asked me to leave my creativity off the field but instead to do what I feel, to listen to my instinct, of course within the limits of certain team balance.”

What represents the biggest pressure: wearing the number 10 shirt of Inter or being acquired with a very big figure for a 18 year-old?

“Playing for this team is not a burden, it is a joy. I am very grateful to be at Inter and sincerely I cannot think of anything but to stay here as long as possible and do the best I can. I am starting to speak Italian, I am taking classes. The language is very tough but I hope to learn quickly because I want to communicate more on the field with my teammates.”

Which one is harder: Italian language or Italian football?

“Man this is a good fight. Surely Italian football is faster, more tactical and more defensive than Croatian football.”

What do you think when people say that you are much more matured than the years that you have?

“The one thing that probably helped me a lot in this regard is when I had a serious injury in 2009: tibia and fibula fracture. I had a really difficult surgery and was out of action for 10 months. At first I was sad, then I became stronger. These are the experiences that make you much stronger especially in the mental aspect.”

Like faith right, your case?

“I do not like to talk about my relationship with faith but I have no trouble saying that having belief gives me strength, helps me to play better. And also that, although not always, sometimes I wear under the match shirt a picture of Jesus.”

After playing in the Champions League with Dinamo Zagrb, coming to Inter and not being able to play next year would be a disappointment?

“We understand that arriving in the top three is not easy and we will play for that just like we will play for this derby. I will give everything, we will give everything.”

3,4.
Cambiasso central back would work well in my opinion,he got more tactical sense than Chivu which is a disgrace as CB.
